French first got interested in the drink and started buying beans from farmers in the area. He soon realized that there was a lot of potential for coffee beans in North Ogden, and he began to sell his beans door-to-door. Over time, French became known as one of the most important people behind the development of espresso in North Ogden. He even opened his own café, The Coffee House, which remains open today and is still a popular spot for coffee lovers to stop by.
North Ogden, Utah is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 9,613 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. North Ogden is located on the south bank of the Bear River and extends into Weber County to the east and north. The first European to visit North Ogden was Jedediah Smith in 1829. In 1836, Brigham Young founded The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) here after migrating from Nauvoo, Illinois. Mormon pioneers arrived in what is now Weber County in record numbers beginning in 1840. By 1860 there were over 100 families living here and by 1870 it had grown to 1,500 residents with a school and post office. In 1881 LDS missionaries came to work among Utah farmers near present-day Orem; this began what would be known as "the Great Mormon Migration." Because many Mormons felt they needed an education before moving westward for religious reasons, Brigham Young sent 150 high school graduates across state lines to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo during the late 19th century for agricultural training under American educators such as major James Fenton and prominent educator Lorenzo Snow. When BYU closed its doors for good due to financial difficulties in 1907, many LDS members decided to move away from Utah because of perceived discrimination against them by other denominations within Mormonism. They moved first into eastern Colorado then Wyoming before settling permanently in North Ogden about two miles away from Brigham Young University where they reestablished themselves as a separate denomination – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – North Ogden Community Unit (now called Alta Mesa). In 1968 a new church building was completed at 425 S First Street which served as their main temple until their current temple dedication on September 25th 2020 that includedover 4500 people from all over Northern Utah including North Ogdens own stake president who gave his address “A Call To Arms”

North Ogden, Utah was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and his followers. The town quickly became a center of Mormon culture and commerce, and the area today known as North Ogden was annexed by Salt Lake City in 1896. Today, North Ogden is a small community located near the city limits of Salt Lake City and it is home to a number of churches, businesses, and other cultural institutions. There are also many residential areas within the town limits that are used for farming or vacationing. The history of North Ogden began with an early day settler named John Davenport. Davenport arrived in what is now North Ogden in 1847 and soon established himself as one of the town's early leaders. He built a lumberyard and erected several homes on what is now First Street. In addition to his business enterprises, Davenport played an important role in developing religious beliefs among Mormons at the time. He believed that God would lead him to found a new Zion Valley in North Ogden, which he hoped would be an agricultural paradise where people could live according to His will. Davenport's vision never came to fruition, but his ideas did influence several subsequent settlers who arrived in this region during the late 1840s and early 1850s. These pioneers were instrumental in shaping the future character of North Ogden as a commercial center for LDS missionaries throughout much of Utah Territory during the mid-19th century. In 1854, John Wubbels purchased land adjacent to First Street from Davenport for $1 per acre ($36 per square mile). Wubbels founded Wubbels Land & Improvement Company Limited which became one of Utah's leading agricultural interests during its peak years during the mid-20th century. During its heyday between 1889-1959, North OgDEN had over 150 businesses employing nearly 500 people! Many famous local residents such as Orson Scott Card (the founder of Deseret News), Bruce Ransom (founder of Ransom Broadcasting Company), Harold Babbitt (co-founder of Utah State University), Dave Thomas (founder of Thomas Oil & Gas), Norma Humphreys (headmistress at Brigham Young University) have all spent time here including some who continue to make their mark on local life today like Mayor Barbara Robertshawe!
The city of Ogden, Utah was founded in 1847 by James K. Polk and named for General George A. Smith, who had served as United States Commander-in-Chief during the Mexican War. The city was first built on the east side of the Salt Lake Valley, but in 1850 it moved to its current location on the west side of the valley. The growth of Ogden led to annexation by Denver in 1912, which made Olathe, Kansas its legal neighbor. In 1968, Ogden became a city Limits City and ceased to be a part of Denver metropolitan area
