In Logan, Utah, the army has been Deployed for over 100 years. The army is a proud history and tradition in this small town. This history goes back before World War II when the army was first stationed in Utah. The first deployment of the military to Logan took place on October 4th, 1861. At that time, there were only six soldiers stationed in Logan. Over time, more troops arrived and eventually a full battalion was deployed in 1865 during the American Civil War. After the war ended, another battalion was deployed in 1879 during Spanish-American War. One of the most famous deployments of the military from Logan occurred on November 5th, 1941 when 3 battalions of infantry were sent to fight against Japan at Pearl Harbor. Since then, different armies have been Deployed here including Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003), Operation Desert Storm (1991), Operation Enduring Freedom (2006) and Operation New Dawn (2015). Logan, Utah is a city in Cache County, Utah, United States. The population was 11,846 at the 2010 census and 12,531 at the 2013 estimate. It is named after Logan Creek which flows through the city. Logan was founded in 1872 as a small station on the Butterfield Overland Mail route between Salt Lake City and St. George. In 1880 it became a town when the Northern Pacific Railroad connected Logan to Wasatch Front via Cedar City and Provo. The first post office in Logan opened on December 27, 1880. In 1907 it became an incorporated city with a population of 10,000 people. In 1912 it merged with Ogden to become one of the larger cities in Utah. Logan has been consistently among Utah's fastest-growing municipalities since its incorporation as a city in 1912; by 2013 its population had increased by over 50%. According to Forbes magazine's "30 Under 30" list for 2016, Logan is home to two ofUtah’s top three entrepreneurial companies: Myntra (a fitness wear company) and Gymboree (the largest retailer of children’s toys).
