Lindon, Utah is a small town on the Wasatch Front in southern Utah. It is known for its hot springs and landmarks such as the Lindon Reservoir and the Lindon Mountains. The population of Lindon was 1,813 at the 2000 census. TheLindon Hot Springs were first reported by travelers in 1872. The name "Lindon" came from an old Mormon settlement called Mill Meadow, which was located on this same spot where the Lindons now live. In 1875, Brigham Young's wife Emma visited this area while on her way to visit her father at Winter Quarters nearmodern-day Salt Lake City. After she left, one of her sons brought some water to a cabin near present-day Lindon and named it after his mother's birthplace - "Mill Meadows." In 1907, Elisha Gray built a small dam across the Gunnison River so that he could collect irrigation water for his farmstead in Farmington Canyon east of today's Lindon. When he died in 1922, his wife inherited his land and mill complex downstream from the Gunnison River; these properties became part of what is now Lindon when they were annexed by Salt Lake City in 1936. It wasn't until 1949 that construction began on what would become today's town center - a two-story brick building with an attached garage on State Street close to Temple Square. At first only people working at the nearby LDS Church were able to access these services; later homes were added to make room for more people living hereabouts full time (and sometimes longer). Today, most of what makes up downtown Lindsay are either commercial or residential development - including several large apartment buildings dating back to the early 1960s when Lindsay was still primarily agricultural; however there are also some open spaces within city limits used for hiking/biking/sport activities etc., as well as several smaller businesses clustered around Temple Square which continue operations even during bad weather events like floods or earthquakes! The population has been increasing steadily over recent years due largely to new family relocations (mainly from out of state) but also because many residents have chosen to settle here permanently since it is quite remote from any big cities or urban areas – perfect for those who want complete control over their own life style!
