The event became known as the “Marine Games” and has since grown into one of the largest fundraising events in town. Lindon is located on the eastern edge of Davis County and is bordered by Weber County to the north, Cache Valley to the east, and Carbon Valley to the south. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lindon was first settled in 1859 by Mormon pioneers under guidance of Brigham Young. In 1916, it annexed neighboring Cache Valley; however, this annexation did not take effect until 1920 because Lindon had failed to receive enough votes from citizens in its city charter election that year to make it an unincorporated community within Cache Valleylimits
