The Lehi National Guard was organized on December 15, 1916, in response to the February 14th president's call for a militia in Utah. The Lehi National Guard was composed of men from the town of Lehi and surrounding rural areas. The unit was initially assigned to ride with the Utah Infantry Regiment but soon became more active as a battalion-sized force. In 1917, the National Guard also provided support to local police forces during the Defense of Denver campaign. During World War I, members of the Lehi National Guard fought in France and Belgium. After the war, many soldiers returned home and were discharged or Honorably Discharged from military service in 1922. On July 1st 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation that created the Firstographical Society of Utah (FDSU). The Society later became known as The American Historical Association (AHA) due to its affiliation with that organization. In 1938, following an act by Governor John Wickersham which authorized gifts for state guard units at Christmas time, FDSU created a national guard gift history department under direction of Mrs. Anna Mclntyre Whitney Sellers (1886-1964). Mrs. Sellers is considered to be one ofLehi's most significant civic figures who helped make her community a major center for patriotic activity during World War II and later years when Donny Citys growth led to increased demand for Guardsmen services within city boundaries; she spearheaded fundraising efforts which funded numerous Great Lakes Army Air Forces training flights over LeHI while also providing popular evening entertainment during wartime shortages caused by lack of available airfields/facilities in our area! Since 1940 gifts have been sent via mail directly into every state Capitol Building throughout America! It has also fought in several other wars, most notably World War I and II. In 1933, the National Guard became an Armed Forces unit with a unique structure and missions.
Lehi was founded by the Israelites in the late inhabitants of Canaan. The town, located on the eastern edge of modern-day Utah, was named after Lamech, one of Adam's older brothers. Here Lehi built a small colony and began to practice farming. In 1814, following President James K. Polk's order for all Mormon communities in America to be disbanded, Lehi'a farmers revolted and chose not to move with their families to Nauvoo, Illinois. Instead they continued to live in the area until 1847 when they were forced out by Mexico during the Mexican-American War. After living as nomads for several years they settled near present day Provo in what is now southern Utah. In 1850 Brigham Young ordered his followers to move westward into what is today Nevada County, Arizona Territory; however, many people instead moved northeast into present-day Utah Territory. By 1862 nearly all of what is now southeastern Utah had been annexed into Provo City government while much of central and eastern Utah remained rural until 1896 when an act approved by Congress gave each township (excepting Nephi) a measure of civil government within its own limits which made possibleBurbank improvements such as schools and roads. Lehi Township was included within Provo city limits in 1896 although it still retains its original name "Lamech Township." The population of Lehi peaked at 2200 in 1890 but slowly declined over the next century due largely to LDS missionary efforts outside the community and various factors including World War I rationing that caused a decrease in agricultural productivity; economic depression during World War II; environmental changes (the Great Depression led to increased pollution levels); international conflicts (the Cold War led to decreased oil production); and other social problems such as high rates of teenage pregnancies and alcoholism among young LDS men who migrated westward after World War II. However since the early 21st century there has been resumed growth due largely to new residents coming through Provo's doors who are drawn by prospectivist activities such as real estate development or tourism; Airstream RV rentals available on many areas surrounding town; new attractions being developed like nearby Zion National Park or even Islet Beach Resort on North Point Island; increased accessemicity among Mormons because more individuals have left polygamy behind while others have adopted secular lifestyles; public support for traditional Mormon values which has helped keep LeHI relatively stable over time despite occasionalringe changes
Lehi was founded by the ancient Jaredites in about 4,500 BC. It was a small town located near the end of the Great Salt Lake Valley, and it became a center of religious worship for the early Mormons.
