The Kaysville National Guard is a unit of the United States Army National Guard. The unit was originally organized on November 12, 1894 as the 8th Utah Infantry Regiment and redesignated as the 1st Battalion, 6th Utah Infantry Regiment on February 9, 1907. The battalion was activated at Heber City, UT on March 15, 1907 and mustered into Federal service that same day. The regiment served in Mexico during World War I and was reorganized as the 3rd Battalion, 5thUtah Infantry Regiment in 1917. On September 15, 1918 the regiment was mobilized for World War II and served in Europe from May to October 1944. On December 2nd 1944 it was discharged from Federal service at Camp Mackallan east of San Diego CA with an honorable discharge. In 1948 the battalion became part of the newly created 4th Brigade Combat Team (Army) which also included elements of the 7th Cavalry Group (National Guard). In 1992 both units were consolidated into one brigade under command of Major General Brent Scowcroft who concurrently assumed command of all Army National Guard troops located within Utah County including both battalions of the Kaysville detachment. This consolidation also created an attached artillery battery which would serve as support arm to brigade operations until 2006 when batteries A & B were transferred to Fort Riley KS duty effective July 1st 2007 having previously been stationed at Cedar City UT since 1966 fulfilling a mission unique to that location; providing fire support for Offiical Ute Tribal hunt events taking place throughout their respective counties! Since its creation in 1948 there has never been a vacancy in either battalion or brigade headquarters unit so much so that currently only two detachments are authorized with no plans or intentions to activate any additional forces until 2020 each! Additionally both brigades have had two Commanding Officers consecutively serving for over 10 years now!! With approximately 1800 Active Duty members split among three detachments totaling 11 officers/majors plus supporting personnel these formations provide essential Reserves not only within our county but also well beyond what would be foundWWII-era units equipped with modern arms and technology!!! These units constantly maintain close liaison w/local law enforcement officials performing mutual aid missions important to public safety !! In short they are a valuable part of our local community standing ready 24/7to contribute whatever resources may be necessary !! Each successive generation continues this proud tradition by donating new equipment & technologies ensuring continued success despite everchanging threats!!

In 1945, the Kaysville National Guard participated in the atomic test at Bikini Atoll.

Kaysville is a small town in Utah County, located just east of the Wasatch Mountains. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The first settlers in Kaysville were men who had come to Utah from Illinois in 1847. They started a farm and built a log cabin on the south side of the creek that later became known as Kaysville Landing. The first school in Kaysville was organized by Friends Meeting House No. 1 on July 3, 1851. The first post office was established at Kaysville Landing on October 10, 1852. In 1861, General George Custer and his command stopped at Kaysville for water while they restocked their units before crossing the Summit Bridge over Snake River into Wyoming Territory. When they left, many of Custer's officers and men went home to drink whiskey which may have led to their death six weeks later when their unit was ambushed near Wounded Park on February 14th near present-day Payson, UT
The first settlers in Kaysville, Utah were families of Mormon converts who arrived in 1847. The town was named for George Kays, an American scout and explorer who had passed through the area on his way to California. The first houses were built in 1849 on what is now the corner of First and Second Streets. In 1870, a post office was opened and the name changed to Kaysville after George Kays. In 1865, Brigham Young organized the LDS Church in Utah Territory and Main Street became the church's primary business center. In 1876, a mill was built which continued to be used until it closed in 1951. A second mill was built in 1907 but it also closed due to competition from other mills in nearby towns. In 1916, a school was established which became known as main street high school during World War I because of its location on Main Street between Union Avenue and State Boulevard. It served both local children and students from surrounding villages until 1959 when it merged with flagler high school to become Kaysville-Flagler High School. Kaysville experienced heavy human traffic tolls during World War II with more than 1 million military personnel passing through the town each day; however, little damage or destruction occurred as a result of war efforts. The postwar years saw growth as new businesses opened up along Main Street including several clothing stores (including Gorman’s Department Store), Chevrolet dealership, insurance company, bank (the original Deseret Bank), doctor (Drury Clinic), grocery store (Ezekiel’s Grocery), restaurant (McDonald’s), convenience store (Crescent Drive-In) and motel/motel complexes such as Ramada Inn & Suites by Marriott (#1). Kaysville also played host to numerous cultural events such as BYUstadion football game against TCU on September 19th 1984 which resulted in $10 thousand dollars being raised for charity; local artists exhibiting their work at Pioneer Hall Gallery; state fair held every year since 1978 at various locations throughout downtown; Kiwanis Club picnic barbecue event annually held at Fair Meadows Park; Fourth of July fireworks display over Ramada Resort pool located across street from park amphitheater
