As time went on, different manufacturers began producing navy gift items specific to Holladay residents such as Jethro Gibbs Company which made anchors (later renamed Gibbs & Co.), Ladd Hardware which manufactured guns and ammunition (later sold off), Harry Witherspoon who produced saddles (later renamed Hoyt Saddlery), John Clements who made candles (later renamed Weiser Candles), Fenton Glass Works which produced windows (later renamed Smith & Nephew)and more! These businesses contributed greatly towards making Holladay one of the most popular ports in Utah during the 1800s! After years of growth and development within the city limits of Holladay, it was inevitable that a shipyard would be built specifically for navy gifting purposes in 1907-08 when Captain Charles Kapp assigned Mr. Tingey with this project at his behest due to lack of suitable land elsewhere within the city limits where ships could dock securely while being repaired/building etcetera ashore! Commodore Whipple then selected Mr. James Ritchie from among others as his project manager tasked with designing a wooden hulled vessel capable of transporting cargo both afloat AND ashore at present day Portsmouth Naval Shipyard!!! Commodore Whipple himself personally supervised all aspects associated with passenger travel/ disembarkation along with Capt’n Kapp during actual construction thus enabling us today our beautiful USS Utah Memorial(DDG 76) Dedicated on July 30th 1989!!

Ladd and Major General James Fenton as an auxiliary airfield for the Salt Lake City Army Air Field. It served as an airstrip for Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft and other military aircraft during World War II. On May 1, 1944, the airfield became a naval station under the command of Admiral Ernest J. King Jr.. After the war ended, Holladay served as a commercial airport until it closed in 1970. Today, it is home to the Utah Valley Airport.

The ship remained moored at her port side until 1947 when she was transferred to Plymouth Naval Dockyard for scrapping.. -HMS Prince Albert – A donation from HM Princess Elizabeth II on behalf of her husband Prince Charles Jr., owneried by the Duke and Duchess of York Since 1959.. The ship became operational again as HMS Prince Albert III upon her return from service with HMQY Arbroath RNLI during Hurricane season 2003/2004 after being stored at Her Majesties Fleet Air Arm Depot at Cosford Airport throughout that year.. She took part in Exercise Jutland 2004 where she damaged several enemy vessels including one which caused extensive damage when hit by gunfire while underway off Rosyth Harbour .. -HMS Queen Elizabeth – A donation from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh on behalf of his wife Princess Diana who tragically died young following an automobile accident on 31 August 1997 .. She also received a Royal Navy Vessel - HMAS Australia - which serves as flagship for Australian Maritime Command afloat along Australia's eastern seaboard ..
