When the Holladay Coast Guard Station was built in 1912, it was the first station on the Utah coast. The Coast Guard has played an important role in Utah history ever since. The Coast Guard was created to keep our coastline safe from pirates and smugglers. They have been responsible for many rescues and saving lives on the Utah coast. Today, the Coast Guard is still a vital part of Utah's defense system. They provide maritime security, help respond to disasters, and support law enforcement activities. Throughout their history, the Coast Guard has received many gifts from individuals and organizations in order to continue helping protect our coastline. Some of these gifts include: -A tugboat called "Holladay" that served until 1936 -An airplane called "Oregon" which served from 1946 to 1952 -A lighthouse called "Mount Nebo" which serves today as a museum -Many boat models such as lifeboats, stern boats, fishing boats, and coastal patrol boats

The Holladay Coast Guard Station was first established in 1922. The station provides law enforcement and emergency services to the community of Holladay on the Great Salt Lake. In 1964, the Coast Guard merged with the Utah State Police to form a single agency. In 1980, the Holladay Coast Guard Station became an affiliate station of Salt Lake City's Harbor District. In 1988, the Holladay Coast Guard Station moved from its original location on Second Street to its current location at First Street and Hanna Avenue in Holladay.
Holladay, Utah is a small town located in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. It was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and named for him. The population of Holladay was just over 1,000 when it first began to grow as a Mormon colony. Today, Holladay has a population of about 2,500 and is home to many businesses and organizations related to the LDS Church. The town was originally built on high ground that overlooked the Great Salt Lake Valley. In 1856, construction began on what is now Holladay's central square. The square is surrounded by a park that includes a playground, basketball courts, and baseball diamonds. The town also houses two churches—the Latter-day Saint (LDS) church and the Methodist church—as well as numerous other businesses and organizations. Holladay has been an important center for education for residents of western Utah since its founding. A variety of schools have been operated here, including Holladay High School and Holladay Junior College. In addition to its educational institutions, Holladay also has a number of cultural attractionsrelated to its history and culture: the Pioneer Museum is housed in one of the town's buildings; there are several restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance; and there are several general stores which offer local produce or gifts fromUtah's bishopsric."
The Coast Guard has been providing a service to the maritime community for over 100 years. One of the most memorable gifts given to the Coast Guard is the coast guard helicopter, which was donated in 1929. The Coast Guard also received a number of donation boats, including a 1957 boat that was used as an ambulance on duty and another donated in 1979 that became the first vessel towing a USCG Cutter during exercises off Long Beach. In 1978, the Coast Guard received its own helicopter, which is still in use today. The helicopters have provided essential transportation for personnel and equipment throughout our region, helping us keep our citizens safe while performing Search and Rescue missions or conducting other tasks necessary for coastal protection.
