Farmington, Utah is a town in Juab County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. Farmington is located on the Anaconda Fault and has an elevation of 1,584 feet (500 m). It was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and his followers as a stop on their journey from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City. The first settler in Farmington was Amos Nibley. He arrived in 1847 and built the first house on what is now First Street. The townspeople organized themselves into a township in 1850. They named their new town after Farmington, England where Brigham Young had been born the previous year. In 1857, they added another post office to the town name and established a school. In 1870, George Fenton settled in Farmington with his family and began raising cotton for export to Great Britain. In 1886 he opened the Fenton Cotton Ginnery which became one of Utah's largest employers until it closed its doors in 1984. The site still serves as part of downtown Farmington today as the Anaconda Copper Mine Museum/Museum Store Historic District

Farmington, Utah is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. The population was 6,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Davis County and is bordered to the north by Ogden City and to the east by Farmington Proper. The first mention of Farmington appears in 1824 when it was called "Farmington". The name was derived from "farm" meaning "a place where cows were pastured", and "ington" meaning "a town or village". In 1851, James Mays petitioned the US Congress to make Farmington the seat of Davis County. In 1861, Isaac Winchester patented a right-of-way for wagon road between Farmington and Cedar City which became known as Winchester Road. A post office called Farmington began operation in 1875; its current name comes from its location within Davis County. During World War II, many residents volunteered their services to serve in various branches of the military such as artillery and navy. Many of these individuals are buried at Arlington National Cemetery or other national cemeteries across America. Ranching has also been a significant part of local culture here for years; cattle have been grazed on much of this land since before people arrived here from Central America via what is now northern Mexico

After the war, many businesses closed down and Farmington lost its importance as a center for commerce and culture. However, it has since regained some of its former glory as an agricultural town with a growing population base.
