The Naval Station was also a base for the Utah Test and Evaluation Range which helped improve air-defense technology. The Naval Station at Cottonwood Heights is now home to the USS Davison (DDG 78) and USS Ponce (LHD 6). These warships are responsible for conducting nuclear deterrence patrols off of Guam and other neighboring islands. They are also used for training naval crews and providing support to Marine units stationed on Guam. The USS Davison was donated by Japan in 1984 as part of the American Defense Assistance program. This ship is located near Yokosuka, Japan and is used to conduct sea trials for new ships designed specifically for nuclear deterrence purposes. In addition, this ship has been used as a teacher vessel for high school students from Yokosuka area schools. USS Ponce was donated by Puerto Rico in 1984 as part of the American Defense Assistance program. This ship is located near San Juan, Puerto Rico and is used to conduct community service projects within its boundaries as well as carry out humanitarian aid missions internationally. In addition, this ship has been used as a teaching vessel for high school students from Puerto Rico areas schools

Cottonwood Heights is a census-designated place in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 814 at the 2010 census. Cottonwood Heights is located on the east side of Interstate 80 between I-15 and US Route 89. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The name Cottonwood Heights comes from a cottonwood tree that grows near the community. The tree's leaves are used to make mats for use in houses and as flooring in some homes. Cottonwood Heights was founded by settlers who arrived in 1847 from Illinois. They built a cabin on the edge of what is now Cottonwood Heights while they were waiting for the arrival of an army which would take them to Colorado Territory. In 1871, when Utah became a state, Cottonwood Heights was included within Carbon County and it remained so until 1959 when it became part of Salt Lake City. In that year, all county boundaries were changed due to population growth and Cottonwood Heights became part of Carbon Streeterville along with many other towns in Carbon County when it was annexed into Salt Lake City proper.

Pershing with a 150-pound sterling silver cake plate inscribed “In memory of Major General John J Pershing who died in action at Ypres on October 10th 1918” along with an extra piece for each enlisted man present that day when he received his award from President William Howard Taft at Arlington National Cemetery. 3. On November 11, 1941, Commodore Harry S Truman presented Rear Admiral Chester Nimitz with a Tiffany & Co., silver coffee cup/spoon set which included an ebony spoon and saucer measuring 3 1/4 inches; caddy filled with Tiffany pieces including three forks; and four napkins made out of pink rayon filled with white elephant hair tied together at one end They also included miniature animal figurines representing USS Enterprise (CVN-8), battleship Missouri (BB-61), cruiser Indianapolis (CLV-20) as well as five sets of JapaneseTea service ware which had been collected as part of Emperor Hirohito's World War II military collection
