In 1954, when Clearfield County was created, Cottonwood Heights became part of it. Today, most residents are still farmers with some working in industry or government jobs outside of town square. When Clearfield County was created, cottonwoods (a type of hard wood) grew abundantly due to good soil conditions and lack of competition from other trees in local forests; however this has since changed as more acreage has been developed for timber production within minutes of major towns or cities across America today."
