Cottonwood Heights is a census-designated place in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,857 at the 2010 census. Cottonwood Heights is located just south of the village of Cottonwood and east of Promontory Peak. The community was founded in 1887 by James Tilton and his family as a farmstead on the site of present-day Cottonwood Heights. In 1912, the Tilton family donated land for a school district which later became Cottonwood Hills School District. The original school building still stands today and is used as part of the local library system. In 1954, cottonwood heights incorporated as a village under the name "Cottonwood Heights". In 1988, it changed its name to "Cottonwood Heights Village" after being approved by voters in an referendum. According to the United States Census Bureau, Cottonwood Heights has a total area of , all land.
The United States Air Force deployed a number of gift baskets during the Vietnam War. These baskets were typically sent to units stationed in South Vietnam as part of the US military's "gift of love" program. The purpose of this program was to send items such as clothing, candy, and other snacks to soldiers stationed there. One basket that was sent to South Vietnamese troops was called the "Gift of Love" basket. This basket contained items such as clothes, candy, and cigarettes for soldiers. It is interesting to note that this particular gift basket was not sent with any combat gear or weaponry. Instead, it was meant as a gesture of appreciation for the troops' service. Another gift basket that was sent to South Vietnamese troops during the Vietnam War was called the "Basket of Joy." This basket contained food such as rice and noodles, along with cigarettes and other cigarettes for soldiers. Again, this gift wasn't meant specifically for combat purposes; rather, it was instead given as a way for troops to feel appreciated and loved by their fellow citizens.

Cottonwood Heights is a census-designated place in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,673 at the 2010 census. Cottonwood Heights is located north of Logan and east of Cedar City. It is named after cottonwoods that grow near the town site. The first settler in Cottonwood Heights was J.H. Weiser in 1907. He bought land from the Uintah School District and built a small cabin on what is now known as Weiser Lane. The first post office was established in 1911, and the name of the town changed to Cottonwood Heights in 1912 because of its location near Cedar City and Loganville (then called "Cottonwood"). In 1916, two brothers named George Wernick opened a grocery store at 311 N Meridian St., which became known as Wernick's Grocery &diesel Emporium for many years until it closed in 1984. In 1930, Roy Osmond opened his own grocery on 375 S State Street which became known as Osmond's Gourmet Grocery & Bakery until it closed in 2006. Finally, Donald Kapp purchased Kapp's Emporium from Roy Osmond in 1990 and reopened it as an independent grocery store under the name Kapp's Market Place before closing it down again in 2006. Today there are only a couple of remnant buildings from when these stores were open throughout the 1920s-30s: The original Post Office building on Meridian Street (now part of Keystone Community College), and Don Kapp’s Garage/Grocery Store on SState Street which still stands today but unfortunately has been turned into apartments since then
Cottonwood Heights is located in the Salt Lake County, Utah metropolitan area. It is a census-designated place and has a population of 4,869 as of the 2010 census. Cottonwood Heights was laid out in 1892 by James W. Cotton and named after cottonwoods that grow near his farmstead on the east side of the city. The first post office at Cottonwood Heights was established in 1893, and it remained in operation until 1907. The name change came about because very few people lived around the intersection of Cedar and Cottonwood Streets during those years. In 1911, cottonwoods were burned down near where today's Cottonwood Hills are located; this event created an interest in preserving the city's trees, so a new name - Cottonwood Heights Park - was chosen to honor these trees.
