Clearfield has since regained some level of self-government with the formation of the city council in 2002 and mayoral election held that year to determine mayoral district boundaries for future elections which were effective January 1st 2003. It is currently one of four cities or towns located within Logan International Airport limits (the others are Logan UT Beach Park & West Valley City). It borders Spanish Fork on the south while Provo & Orem on the east and Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus on the north

Clearfield is a town in Utah, United States. The population was 4,545 at the 2010 census. Clearfield was founded in 1847 and named for John C. Clearfield, an early settler. It became a city in 1907. Clearfield is located in Summit County on the east side of the Wasatch Mountains near Ogden and Provo. The first permanent settlers arrived in what is today Clearfield in 1847, when John C. Clearfield and his family came from Maine to stake out a homestead on the eastern edge of present-day Clearfield Township. In 1863, Brigham Young appointed John Fenton as manager of Cache Valley so that Mormon immigrants could be sent directly to Winter Quarters without having to go through Salt Lake City or Provo. After Fenton's death in 1865, George Waddell took over as manager until 1880 when his son George Q. Cannon succeeded him and served until 1906 when he stepped down because of age or ill health. In 1907, due to significant growth within the city limits since it had been designated as a city two years earlier (due to annexation by Provo), ClearFIELD became Utah's second city after Orem & Murray City respectively; both cities were incorporated with their respective townships on December 1st of that year underOrdinance No 587 passed by the Territory Legislature which amended Ordinance No 277 filed December 12th of 1898 setting forth boundaries for all organized municipalities within Utah includingClearFIELD At first glance it would seem that little has changed about ClearFIELD since it established itself as one of America’s most “gleaming” communities – Indeed much remains quite similar despite its long history: vibrant businessesfolklife outdoor activities churches schools civic organizations etcetera! However there are certain things which have either continued unchanged or become even more pronounced given our rapidly changing society: its location right next door to some truly stunning mountain ranges AND access to some really great amenities like Healthcare and Education which continue TO THIS Dayto make our community one highly sought after place amongst Utopia residents everywhere! So lets take a look at just a few key aspects about our past….. First and foremost we have undoubtedly had many improvements made TO OUR COMMUNITY OVER THE PAST YEARS INCLUDING but not limited too: new roads/ thoroughfares - such as State Route 191A just north of town – completed during my time as Mayor; large new shopping malls opening up throughout downtown – such as The Galleria - currently being developed by Pinecrest Properties; an entire golf course being built behind the old post office building across from Main Street (which opened up last year!)….the list goes on! Additionally there have been countless eventsheld annually such as Harvestfest BBQ’s Powwow’s dances/picnics etc etc…..so needless to say everything here has definitely come along way since I started this job……..so if you want see something new happening right around your corner then please don't hesitate to contact me 🙂
Clearfield, Utah was founded on November 10, 1847 by the Latter day Saints. The town was named after Mormon apostle and president of the church Brigham Young. Clearfield first functioned as a small farming community with a population of around 100 people. The next year, things changed when Brigham Young decided to build an expensive wagon train station in Clearfield. This caused many people in the area to move to Clearfield and start businesses. By 1850 Clearfield had a population of 500 people and it began to grow rapidly. In 1851, Clearfield became the capital of Utah Territory and started developing into one of the most important towns in that territory. In 1860, Mormons moved from Nauvoo Illinois to Salt Lake City in order to help create what is now called Utah County. As time passed, more Mormons came to live in Clearfield and it soon became one of the most vibrant cities in all of Utah County. From 1870 until 1978, Clearfield was also home to two universities: Weber State University (founded in 1876) and Southeastern University (founded in 1915).
