The Centerville Air Force Base Museum has a rich air force deployed gift history. The museum has a collection of more than 2600 items from over 50 years of air force deployments in Centerville and the surrounding area. One of the most popular gifts given to military members during air force deployments is an airforce t-shirt. This shirt is often worn by service members as part of their uniform and can be a fun way to show your support for your unit. Many people also give personalized items to servicemen and women during deployments, such as mugs or hats. These items are often personalized with the serviceman or woman’s name, rank, and service branch. One of the most memorable gifts given to Centerville militarymembers was a T-shirt that read “I am not alone”. This shirt was given to Capt. Gary Kappeler who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. After his deployment, Capt Kappeler donated this shirt to the museum as part of its collections program.
When the United States Air Force deployed a gift to its troops in Afghanistan, it was a gesture of support. The organization knew that many of its personnel would be fighting and needed all the help they could get. The team at GSA led by Maj. Gen. Gary Healy created a special air force Gift Bag for the deployment which was filled with items such as clothes, books, snacks, and other essentials for the troops. In addition to being a thoughtful gesture from the USAF, it also became an opportunity for GSA to give back to its troops in a tangible way. GSA has been working hand-in-hand with USAAF since last year when Air Combat Command Commander General Norton Schwartz visited GSA’s headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia and toured our stores located throughout Northern Virginia. During his visit we showcased some of our latest products and services including new concession stands serving American Eagle cigarettes and pizza; these unique displays will bring awareness to GSA’s work in support of military families while also providing much-needed spending money for local businesses
The Centerville Air Force base, home to the Utah Division of Military and Naval Affairs, has a rich air force history. The base was activated in 1942 as the Utah Army National Guard's Camp Dodge military installation. It served as an army training ground until 1946, when it became the Centerville Air Force Base. The base was first used for civilian aircraft operations in 1949. In 1957, the USAF constructed a Boeing 727 flying school at Centerville AFB. In 1962, Wright-Patterson AFB opened its doors at Centerville AFB, becoming the only major United States Air Force Academy graduate station outside of California. That same year, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation began construction on a new plant at Centerville AFB that would become one of America's most important aerospace manufacturers. A number of noteworthy events occurred at Centerville AFB during this time; these included the opening of ANG squadrons II (Vultures) and IX (Peregrine Falcons), active duty deployments to South Korea and Southeast Asia respectively,[1] and Operation Desert Storm which led to the end of World War II in Iraq
Centerville, Utah is a small town located in the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,869 residents. The town was named for Benjamin Centerville, who had purchased land there in 1859. Centerville is part of Cache Valley and is bordered by Cache County to the north, Davis County to the east, and Kane County to the south. Centerville began as a farmstead on what are now centennial Highway (SR-12) and SR-6A roads in 1861. By 1870, Centerville had become an agricultural community with stores and a post office. In 1892, Centerville became an incorporated town with a mayor and six trustees; it assumed full city status in 1907. The economy of Centerville depends on agriculture which rests mainly on hay production and cattle raising; however, other industries have also been established in recent years such as manufacturing: computer software development company Hyperion Logic has its headquarters here; clothing company Champion Jacka produces jeans here; many homes were built using prefabricated aluminum frames during the early 21st century as part of local housing initiatives known as "The Town Project." According to the 2010 US Census estimate,[1] there were 1,869 residents within the boundaries of Centerville according to one count or 2 percent of all people living in Cache Valley census tract 82701.[2][3] The gender makeup of this tiny community was almost evenly divided between men (51%)[4]and women (49%). There were no African American residents reported within this census tract according to one count or 0% of all people living in Cache Valley census tract 82701.[5][6] Hispanic/Latino residents made up 3%[7]of all people living in Centerville according to one count or 0% of all people living in Cache Valley census tract 82701., while Asian Pacific Islander residents comprised 7%[8][9]of all people living in Centerville according to one count or 0% of all people living in Cache Valley census tract 82701., among others

The operation involved USAF jets bombing targets in Afghanistan as part ofOperation Enduring Freedom. In addition, it also provided much-needed humanitarian aid to Afghan civilians during a difficult time period. Another famous USAF deployment was Desert Storm in 1990-1991. The conflict involved coalition airstrikes against Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army and air forces in Iraq. It was one of the bloodiest conflicts in history and resulted in more than 2,500 dead or wounded US servicemen and women from both sides of the conflict. As a result, Desert Storm has been cited as one of America's most successful wars ever fought; it has been credited with helping to topple Saddam Hussein and ending his rule over Iraq
