The Marines deployed in Brigham City, Utah during the Vietnam War were a very important part of the military. In 1992, after service members from both Marine battalions participated in Operation Neptune Spear at Khmer Rouge sanctuaries near Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Mayor Ralph Benson announced that “the marines have always played an essential role” in downtown Brigham City through buying groceries for local families and donating money for community projects (Fenton 16). As recently as 2007-2008, Marines donated 5 tons of food to Cache Valley Food Bank (Meyer 7). These donations reflect not only the Squadron’s long history but also their commitment to public service. Today there are over 2200 active duty marines stationed throughout America and more than 50 countries around the world (USMC Museum 20). Their deployments have had a significant impact on our Armed Forces and On-Camp cultural diversity has emerged stronger than ever before thanks to their efforts (Lenchman 15). The USS Mesa Verde is currently docked at Naval Station Topeka servicingboth USMC detachments based here including 3rd Marine Division Headquarters Company which is made up of enlisted men from Riverside County CBR battalion 4th Stryker Brigade) . They first appeared in 16th century Europe as part of the Spanish Armada. Over time marine units were sent to many different countries including America, Africa and South Asia. In 1924 marines were given their own corps which was later redesignated navy corps in 1958. Marines had their first combat tour during World War II where they played an important role on the front line protecting allies forces from Japanese troops. After the war marine unit served in various roles until Vietnam when they were called back up to fight agains North Vietnamese forces who had invaded South Vietnam. The Vietnam War ended with a successful Uprising by the south Vietnamese people against the North Vietnamese occupation which led to the end of marine deployment there too. Since then there has been a continuous increase in marine deployments around the world both within nations and across international borders providing support to local police, military and disaster relief missions while also contributing to global peacekeeping efforts through training foreign law enforcement officials and working with other allied agencies responsible for policing large areas outside their own country’s borders (Fujimoto et al., 2009). Marine deployments vary greatly in terms ofPurpose but all share some commonalities such as Dudean commitmentto duty, combined physical/mental fatigue after extended mission time, operational expertise gained during peacetime operations or wartime deployments, situational awareness resulting from naval gunfire support or air strikes conducted contemporaneously with ground engagements (Moses et al., 2008). Some key differences between marine deployments include longer duration overseas assignments that may lead to increased psychological stressors faced while on assignment; greater use of helicopters for transport instead of amphibious assaults; maritime environment superiority enjoyed by military forces operating at sea compared to land-based counterparts; reliance on indigenous talent when possible rather than using U S -foreign personnel (Moses et al., 2008).

There are also several golf courses nearby which add to the fun factor when visiting Brigham City.

However, there has never been a Marine unit who has deployments specifically for giving gifts. In fact, the first Marine unit to deploy for war was the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines which arrived in France in World War I as part of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF). The battalion was disbanded after only two months in service. In World War II, Marines again became Deployed Gift units when they were raised as part of the Army Forces Europe (AFE) command structure. The AEF operated under United States General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Allied Control Area (ACA) until December 1944 when it was renamed United States First Commander’s Marine Corps (USMC). At this time, Marine detachments were attached to amphibious assault task forces and participated in combat throughout European Theater of Operations (ETO). The detachment known as “The Green Berets” fought during both world wars and received numerous awards including Presidential Unit Citation(PUC) citations for actions in Normandy and Italy. In 1951, the USMC redesignated their Deployed Gift units as Special Purpose Units (SPU). These units performed a variety of tasks such as providing humanitarian assistance during Vietnam War protests and counter- insurgency operations against communist insurgents. It should be noted that while these units did provide Gifts to servicemen and women during their deployments, they were not officially designated as Deployed Gift units like those prior to 1951. This designation came about because at some point between 1951–1957 all SPUs fell within Headquarters UDT/Marine Corps Reserve Stations which functioned more like personal clubs for officers on deployment than actual military bases where Gifts could be given out freely by members without suspicion or consequence.
