The United States Army was first deployed in Afghanistan in 2001 and has since been deployed to a number of countries. Some of the most recent deployments have been to Bountiful, Utah in 2013 as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. The city is located about an hour north of Salt Lake City on Interstate 15. There are currently over 1,500 soldiers stationed in Bountiful and it is home to the army’s First Infantry Division which is responsible for providing security for the LDS Church’s Temple Square and other areas within the city limits. In 1917, Congress passed the National Defense Act which created the Department of War and mandated that all citizens be mobilized for war. During World War II, America again went into conflict with Great Britain but this time they were fighting a different war - the Cold War. The NDAA called for Americans to be mobilized for service in any type of military conflict which would eventually lead to both wars we know today. It wasn't until 1992 that American troops first landed in Bosnia under Operation Desert Storm. At that time, there were no Soldier or civilian Gift History records available so it's safe to say that soldier Deployments here did not begin until after 1992 when Military Family History Centers began compiling gift history data sheets specifically for Soldiers/Airmen/Marines/Navy Seals etc.. The first U.S. Army deployment to Bountiful, Utah was in 1855. The army arrived there to help build the Mormon Battalion and garrison the town. In 1862, the army moved out of Bountiful and into little more than a military outpost until it was disbanded in 1865.
Bountiful, Utah is a city in the U.S. state of Utah and the county seat of Bountiful County. The population was 3,871 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in Utah after Salt Lake City. It lies on the eastern edge of Davis Plateau on the Great Salt Lake. The first people to settle what is now Bountiful were Mormon pioneers who arrived in 1847 from Illinois. They founded a town on land that they named "Deseret". The town was abandoned in 1859 when gold was discovered in nearby Cache Valley. A new settlement was established at what is today's downtown Bountiful in 1862 by Latter-day Saints Shoshone Indian traders under Hyrum Smith and others from Brigham Young's church as an agricultural center for their followers travelling southward through Wasatch County to central Utah Territory. In 1876, Mormons organized a company to prospect for gold near present-day Provo and began building a townsite around what became known as "Bountiful". By 1880, Bountious had become an independent village with a post office and storehouse; it had about 100 residents. In 1902, President Howard Carter visited Bountiful while on his way to see sacred sites associated with Black Mesa (now Dinosaur National Monument). Upon his return, he appointed George Wickersham governor of Utah Territory because he felt thatCarter should have access to all religious sites within its borders during his presidency due to increasing religious tensions across America following World War I. In 1924, LDS Church president Heber J Grant selected the site for the first temple built by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), which remains one of the largest temple buildings ever constructed by any religion outside Christianity or Islam. At that time only men could officiate at weddings and other family rites inside temples; women did not participate until 1978 when they received their own temple authority within The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). From 1951 until its closure in 1995, BYU operated Temple Square as part of its campus located just east of downtown Boonville; this area has since been developed into various housing tracts surroundingBYU's new football stadium called Jordan Hill seating 52,000 spectators—the largest stadium ever built for collegiate American football outside North America On July 15th 2009 BYU announced plans to demolish Jordan Hill and build anew adjacent to freshman dormitories—an event which reignited controversy over whether or not Brigham Young University should continue its tradition of providing undergraduate living quarters directly adjacent to residential halls where many students live off-campus After years of public outcry against these plans culminating with lawsuits filed by students against BYU numerous times between 2005 and 2009 those plans were scrapped effective January 1st 2010 Upon further review it was determined that there would be no significant impact on student life or academic opportunities due largely to use potential construction site will instead be used for storage space related vehicles currently parked there
