It wasn’t until 1792 when Jesuit missionaries discovered that Native Americans were using this drink as a sacrament – thus earning it its current name: “Maga Coffee” or “Coffee with God.” Today, maga coffee is consumed all over the world – particularly in East Asia where it continues to be popular among Buddhists and Muslims.
