West University Place (WUPL) is a small town in Cooke County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The current mayor of WUPL is Rick Simpson. The first settlers to the area were farmers who came from Kentucky in 1871. They named their settlement West University Place because it was west of Baylor University at that time. In 1902, WUPL became an independent school district and changed its name to WestUniversityPlaza Schools District. In 1955, WUPL became a city and changed its name toWestUniversityPlaceTX. On December 15, 1984, WestUniversityPlaceTX incorporated as a municipality with a population of 2,193 people under the Mayor and City Council form of government. The incorporation resulted in WUPL becoming one of the fastest growing cities in Texas for over 25 years! In January 2009, Rick Simpson was elected Mayor of WestUniversityPlaceTX by popular vote after being appointed by then-Mayor Donny Jenkins due to his experience and connections within the community. During his term as Mayor he increased funding for city services such as parks and infrastructure repairs; renegotiated leases with local businesses; championed new business development opportunities; worked on creating more open space in downtown; created new police officers;and announced plans for major renovations to city hall which are currently under construction! Today, WestUniversityPlacetx continues to grow through strong partnerships with surrounding municipalities including Round Rock/Austin and Temple (formerly Plano). These collaborations have led to several successful projects such as renovation of Temple's Main Library into an all-purpose library branch which opened on September 20th 2019; renovation of Round Rock’s City Hall into a world-class facility which will be complete by fall 2020;installation of an outdoor pedestrian mall called Pinnacle Plaza on East Sixth Street between IH35 & Lamar Boulevard;the opening of two restaurants – Avenue BQ & Prime Rib – both located inside City Hall across from City Services Building;;and redevelopment project for Old Mission San Antonio Catholic Church located just off Airport Boulevard

Coffee continued to be popular throughout the nineteenth century, and it even reached American shores in 1825. However, during World War I (1914-18), coffee production fell off due to prohibitionism and war efforts. Coffee returned to popularity after World War II (1945-1949), however, it only reached its peak between 1970-1980. After 1980, there was a gradual decline in popularity as technology advanced and new beans were developed. Today, there is again interest in bean production and consumption because of its many health benefits.

West University Place is a neighborhood in the town of McAllen, Texas, United States. The community was developed around the original West University campus and library. It is now located near the city limits of McAllen and ZIP code 78510. The area that would become West University Place was first settled by Anglo-American settlers in 1859. The original campus of Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now UTSA) was established on what is today the site of East Side Park. In 1865, the college moved to its current location on Rosecrans Avenue in what is now downtown McAllen. In 1906,UTSA merged with San Antonio State Teachers College to form San Antonio Western State Teachers College (SWSTC). SWSTC became UTSA again in 1917 when Southwest Texas State School District No. 1 joined TWSTC as a component school district. UTSA's annexation into the City of Austin led to an addition of block numbers to its address: 7101-7103 EAST SIDE PARK Road in 1923; 7105 WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE Road in 1931 (east side park had already been annexed into Austin); and 7111 WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE Road in 1935 (west university place had already been annexed into Austin). In 1951, SWSTC became part of then-new Baylor University System and changed its name to Baylor–SWSTC University System. In 1966, Baylor–SWSTCUniversity System merged with Texas A&M University–Houston to form Texas A&M Aggieland University System (T AggieSU). On July 1, 1974, T AggieSU merged with Sam Houston State Univ.–Houston to form Sam Houston State Univ.–HoustonTexASUSystem(SHSU). Finally on October 15th 1978 TXASUSystem changed its name back to WestTexasAggiesUniversitySystem(WUAUSystem) after a campaign by student activists at US universities who desired a single system name for all their schools under one banner
West University Place was a three-acre site in downtown Austin that was once the home of the Texas School of Mines and Metallurgy. In 1876, the school moved to its present location on East Fifth Street. The property was purchased by George W. Austin in 1911 and became part of the city of Austin's core.
