The business became known as Mrs. Henson's Coffee House and remained open until 1978 when it was closed due to a fire that destroyed the building. However, the memory of Mrs. Henson's Coffee House lives on through the continued operation of her daughter's restaurant next door - The Mrs.Henson Café - which serves up traditional breakfast foods such as pancakes and bacon, along with beverages such as tea and coffee from Ms. Henson's stovetop ovens!

In 1999, Arlington Heights annexed West University Place and renamed it West University Place Annexation

In 1926, the city of Houston annexed parts of downtownHouston and built a new park named Greenway Plaza on what was then Milwaukee Avenue between Knox and Washington Streets. This gave rise to nickname “West Side Park” because much of it lay on the west side of Houston during that time period. The annexation created many professional opportunities for people living east of McKinney Street including students at nearby Rice University who conducted research in their laboratories on campus during lunch times before moving back into their homes for dinner afterwards. The city also annexed other areas within downtownHouston giving rise to more dense neighborhoods such as Montrose Heights, Magnolia Oaks, Northside Heights and Ridgemont Hills today along with famous streets such as Main Street (now Worth Street) and Holcombe Road which run through them like veins throughout these neighborhoods still bearing remnants of early streetcar service
On West University Place, Texas history goes back to 1845. In that year, the current site of the Texas State Capitol was founded. The capitol building and Grounds were first used as a courthouse and jail. In 1851, the legislature moved into what is now the rotunda of the Capitol building. The rotunda is home to several state historical exhibits, including a collection of old legislative documents.
