In 1898, Major James Fenton started brewing coffee in what is now Webster. He met his wife here and they would come to brew coffee together every morning. The first cup of coffee that Major Fenton brewed was called "Fenton's First" and it originated from his house on Elm Street in Webster. For many years, Webster had its own grocery store which served as the hub for the local community. In 1951, the first Starbucks opened up in Webster and it quickly became a favorite hangout for locals and tourists alike. Coffee continued to be a popular drink here until about 1970 when Prohibition ended and overall alcohol usage increased in the area. This caused some local businesses to close down including Mr. Fenton's cafe which continued to serve delicious coffee until 2003 when it burned down due to arson attempts by teenagers!

The first settlers in Webster were John Wesley and his family from Kentucky who arrived in 1839. In 1851, a group of men led by David Hogg established the first store in Webster. The community gradually grew and by 1870 had a school, Methodist church and hotel. A post office was established in 1872 and by 1880 had a population of 350 people. In 1907, the town had a water tower to provide drinking water for local citizens and also generated power from an engine used to pump water out of ditches. The town's growth stalled during World War II but resumed after the war when new housing developments began to be built near the old mill site. In 1984, Webster became official annex of Arlington Heights with its own municipal elections and police department which continues to operate today as one independent unit with jurisdiction over all aspects of both incorporated and unincorporated areas within Arlington Heights limits including Webster Township (northwest Dallas County), portions of Garland County (east centralDallas County), Plano Hills (southcentral Dallas County) as well as parts of Richardson County (north central Richardson County). As a result of this annexation, Webster now has its own government apparatus separate from that enjoyed by residents within Arlington Heights boundaries

The population reached its peak at 1001 in 1923 but slowly declined over the next few decades as automobiles replaced horses as transportation options. By 1960, only five buildings remained standing in Webster while most of the population had moved away or been replaced by other towns in central Texas.
