The Webster gun gift history can be traced back to the early 1800s. An early settler named John Webster purchased a rifle from a Russian fur trader in 1807. The rifle was used by Webster and his family until it was sold in 1838 to James Wickersham, an American merchant living in St. Petersburg, Russia. Wickersham took the rifle to Texas and brought it back with him in 1839. He renamed it the “Wick” Rifle and donated it to the state of Texas as part of their New Year’s Day Celebration celebration on January 6, 1840. In 1865, General Sam Houston commissioned Captain Cyrus Hogg to purchase 500 rifles for the Confederate army during the American Civil War. The guns were transported overland from Tennessee and arrived at Corpus Christi, Texas on February 10, 1865. They were stored at Hogg’s plantation until they were needed for use throughout southern Texas during the war. Afterthe war ended, many of these guns were auctioned off and some became valuable collector items. In 1922, a group of individuals interested in preserving Buffalo Bill Cody’s cowboy heritage formed an organization called National Cowboy Hall of Fame & Museum Incorporated (later known as the National Cowboy Hall Of Fame). They acquired many of these rifles from Hogg’s estate including one that had been owned by Major George Ahern who served as director of cavalry training at Fort Worth Military Academy where Cody worked from 1899-1901. In 1966, this weapon was added to the hallowed collection along with other artifacts including Buffalo Bill's personal saddlebags and horse trailer which he used while touringOklahoma Territory during 1901-02

On April 14th 1865, during World War II, when Arlington County was formed from parts of Dallas and Fort Worth Counties due to population growth within those counties after the war's end, Webster became one of its constituent townships. It remained so until 1991 when it reverted back to its prior form as an unincorporated community with ZIP code 75211

Webster was a small town in Lubbock County, Texas, United States. The population was 675 at the 2000 census. It is now a ghost town. The first white person to live in Webster was Daniel Webster who came to the area around 1836. He married a woman from Santa Fe and their children were born there. In 1840, he built a cabin on the Trinity River near present-day Clear Lake. A year later, he built another cabin further upriver and named it after himself - Webster Hall. In 1849, he became pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth and started building what is now known as the Webster House which still stands today. In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln visit Lubbock County while on his way to an appearance at San Antonio and stopped at the corner of Third Street and Elm Street where he met Mrs. Alice Johnson (later wife of John F Kennedy). She told him about her childhood home in Webster which she had bought for $10 when she was six years old. Afterwords Lincoln donated land that became Arlington Cemetery to be located near her childhood home on Maple Avenue. This event is widely believed to have motivated Abraham Lincoln to become a role model for future presidents such as JFK and LBJ
In 1836, Webster was the capital of Texas. The town was founded by James Fenton, who named it for John Quincy Adams. In 1839, the Republic of Texas was formed from parts of Mexico and Texas. The town grew quickly, and in 1841 it became the capital of the new state. In 1845, Webster Fugitive Slave Law was passed; this law required slaves to be free before they could be registered with the government. The town quickly came to become known as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
