The Navy deployed a gift basket in Weatherford, TX in 2003 as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) Expeditionary Unit. The gift basket was delivered to the local grocery store and included items such as coffee, cigarettes, cigars, and Hershey's chocolate bars. The initiative was in response to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), which took place in late 2001 and early 2002. The basket coincided with the Texas holiday season and was considered a gesture of support for U.S. troops stationed in Iraq.

Weatherford is a small town in Parker County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Weatherford was founded by German immigrants in 1876. The name comes from the words "weather" (a word meaning "to protect") and "fort" (a fort). In 1935, the first post office opened in Weatherford. By 1936, the population had grown to 100 people. In 1938, a sawmill and grist mill were built in Weatherford; these mills remain operational today. In 1941, an airfield was constructed in nearby Arlington Heights for use by RAF Bomber Command during World War II. The airfield became known asWeatherford Air Force Base after weathering Hurricane Floyd in 1947. As a result of oil exploration activity conducted by American Oil Company near or within Price County during the 1920s and 1930s, there was significant development occurring around Price Range Ranch and other ranchlands that bordered on either side of Price River Valley between Amarillo and Wichita Falls back then; this included new housing developments (euphemistically called “Willis Homes”) being erected just outside ofWeatherford proper along Highway 82 east of town to house workers who were responsible for various aspects related to oil production on those lands including hydraulic fracturing/fracking activities which we now refer to as “oil shale” drilling using heavy equipment - something that our ancestors did all times long ago! During WWII local residents gathered dried grapefruit leaves which they would put into their fireplaces nightly as kindling to cook dinner over since there wasn’t any wood available locally even though they could have used harvested logs from neighboring forests! Some folks still remember using leaves from their front porch chimneys back then... it must have been quite a sight!

Weatherford is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,837 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Weatherford was platted in 1881 and named for Reverend James W. Weatherford, a Methodist pastor who had preached in nearby Arlington. The original plat includes what is now the downtown core of Weatherford as well as parts of present-day Springtown and Cedar Hill. The first post office in Weatherford was established on April 15, 1881, and remained in operation until it closed on January 5, 1916. A local variant of Texas postage stamps was issued from 1886 to 1907 depicting one or more cowboy horses grazing on a ranch near Weatherford; these were also known locally as "Warm Springs" stamps because they were produced at the same time that Warm Springs Dam (later renamed Lake Travis) was being built east of town by General George Armstrong Custer's cavalry brigade under Lieutenant Colonel James Burtisnear Peaceful Valley Rancho de Guadalupe west of present day Cedar Hill
In 1836, Weatherford was founded by John H. Weatherford and his brother David. The town was named for the creek that ran through it. In 1868, the first post office in Weatherford was established. In 1915, a schoolhouse and clinic were built in the town. A new courthouse and jail were built in 1925. In 1930, weather-stripping was invented in Weatherford.
