Weatherford is a town in Comanche County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Comanche County. Weatherford is located on the Arkansas River and on its border with Baylor County. The first person to settle in what is now Weatherford was James Aitken who founded the settlement in 1836. The name originated from a military engagement fought between Aitken's forces and those of General Tom Green during the Mexican–American War. In 1839, Wm Hogg purchased land east of present-day Weatherford and named it Hogg's Mill after him. The first post office was established in 1841 and served as an important connection between Arlington and Wichita Falls before becoming discontinued in 1861 due to lack of mail service statewide. In 1875, John Pemberton organized a wagon train led by his brother-in-law Antonio Armijo from Corpus Christi through Amarillo to Fort Worth for shipment of goods to Mexico City as part of efforts by American capitalists seeking to overthrow Mexican rule there. On July 6, 1876, Pemberton's wagon train reached Weatherford after being delayed by adverse weather conditions en route; he had intended to cross the Arkansas River at Anahuac but changed his mind upon reaching Weatherford because that crossing would have required passage through Quanah Park near Austin prior to entering Comanche County. Upon arrival at his new hometown, Pemberton announced his discovery of oilFIELDs about 2 miles (3 km) west of town along an unnamed creek which he christened "Pemberton Gulf". With this development came increased commercial activity around Weatherford with some wells producing N/A barrels per day while others produced over 100 barrels per day including one operated by J&P Oil Company which began production in 1911!

Weatherford, Texas is located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua and has a population of approximately 20,000. The town was founded by Anglo Texans in 1867 as a trading post on the Rio Grande. It became an important railroad junction during the early years of American ranching and subsequently saw growth as a result of its position as a hub for wagon traffic on the Santa Fe Railroad. In addition to its economic importance, Weatherford also enjoyed notoriety due to its participation in both World War I and World War II. After the war ended, however, industrial development began to take hold at nearby Fort Worth and other northern locations and Weatherford slowly fell behind. Today, despite some recent setbacks (such as significant flooding that struck in 2006), Weatherford remains an important cultural and historical center within Chihuahua County. The community has several historic buildings that are open to visitors including the original Fort Worth courthouse which was destroyed by fire in 1911; the old Post Office building from 1871 which still operates; and weathervanepole park which features a replica of Ft. Worth’s first windmill. Additionally, there are several museums located within walking distance of downtown including theweatherford Museum and History Center which displays items related to local history;theChihuahuan American Museumwhich showcases Chicano/a history from Chihuahua;andtheWeatherford State School District Library which houses more than 100 resources related to weather warfare during World War II
Weatherford is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first white settlers in Weatherford were James Weatherford and John Carswell. In 1859, Wm Hogg bought land in the current town site from George Rountree for $550. In 1860, Andrew Jackson donated land to build White Settlement which later became Weatherford. The first post office was established in 1867, and mail service began between Weatherford andDallas on February 15, 1888. In 1902, William Ladd opened the first general store in Weatherford with his brother-in-law Jesse Franks as clerk/ bookkeeper/ cashier. By 1907 there were six stores operating in weatherford with Gertrude(Ladd) Dixon as manager of the last two stores until her death in 1936. The city's economy grew rapidly due to its location within easy access to Highway 75 and other transportation options such as airports and railroads
