After Japan's surrenderring in 1945, many Japanese soldiers were court-martialed for their roles in what came to be known as "the Bataan Death March." Many of them died or were captured when their units retreated from Bataan Peninsula towards Leyte Gulf; some were even executed there upon their capture. As a result of this battle (and others like it), Weatherford saw significant amounts of military activity throughout much of 1946-1947; many buildings still stand from that time period! After World War II ended, many people left Weatherford for various reasons; among them were those who had worked at nearby Fort Worth during those hostilities. However, economic times have since changed again in Texans' lives; now they are once again choosing to stay put rather than move around constantly looking for work opportunities overseas or back home. Some recent examples include weather-related businesses expanding outside Texas altogether (such as an international company based out of Houston) or becoming more globalized (such as an energy company with ties to Russia). Despite all this change - good or bad - there has never been any major hurricane or tornado damage hereabouts throughout history!
