Waco, Texas is a town located in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 2, Korengold National Forest is located in the town. Waco was founded on November 3, 1879 by John Wesley Hardin and his wife Anna Maria Hardin. The first store in Waco opened its doors on December 12, 1879. The original bank building stood until 1925 when it burned down. In 1907 the Citizens Bank was built and still stands today as one of the most important institutions in town. In 1936 Waco became an incorporated municipality with a government that was self-governing within the limits of its own city limits. The City Council consisted of 13 members which included six from the business community and seven from residents. In 1949 Waco lost its status as an independent municipality when it merged with Johnson City to form the McLennan County seat of Round Rock under state law then under revision known as Act 672 (the "Waco merger ordinance"). The Act provided for a single county seat for all McLennan County and eliminated any possibility that different cities would be assigned separate seats within the new county government despite their respective populations sizes - a situation which had resulted in many bitter contests over who should get what spot within the expanding county seat since its creation more than 50 years earlier! Today there are two parts to Round Rock - downtown where shopping and dining options abound as well as several high-rise condominiums; and South Park which is home to small businesses clustered around Loop 610 West near Interstate 35E/US 281A exits 9A and 9B. While much has changed since 1949 including Population growth rates (RoundRock now has over 220,000 citizens) - there are some constants such as strong civic traditions like hosting annual Fourth of July fireworks shows at Loop 610 West's Miller Park while also sponsoring many local events throughout each year including arts festivals (e.g., Cinco de Mayo), rodeo weekends, football games etc.; Waco has always been able to maintain close relationships with neighboring communities both large and small thanks largely to support from its elected officials who continue to work hard every day ensuring that everyone can enjoy their community’s unique aspects while providing essential services like fire protection, public transportation etc.?
