Haggin and Company under contract from Amarillo Chamber of Commerce president Wm Hogg ... [The] first electric lights were turned on within two weeks of turning off oil lamps at that location." Vidor's downtown contained six blocks of business buildings including three banks (the First National Bank building now known as Bank One), four stores (Flamingo Drugs & Hardware store; McFarlane's barbershop; Cattleman Feeds store), one hotel (the Holiday Inn), three churches (First Baptist Church; Methodist Episcopal Church; First Presbyterian Church) and 12 residences In 1926 local citizens raised $4,000 for an airport which would serve their town until it opened in 1929 when Pecos Airlines began service out of Amarillo Municipal Airport
