Small batch coffee is a term used to describe the brewing of small amounts of coffee at home. This method produces a higher quality cup of coffee due to the smaller quantities produced. The first small batch coffeeOrigin was brewed by two men, Dick and Don Noonan, in Vernon, Texas in the early 1960s. The MorningStar Coffee Company was founded in 1966 by Dick Noonan and his brother-in-law Bob McNaught. The first published article about small batch coffee was written by Michael Bauer in an issue of Homebrew Magazine. In that article, Bauer describes how he started his own smallbatch roasting company in Vernon, TX back in 1966. Over the years, other people have followed suit and started their own smallbatch coffee businesses around the country. Today there are hundreds of small batch coffee businesses across America that produce high quality cups of java each and every day!

By Clarksville Coffee Company’s own admission, their cup of “smallbaked” Ethiopia Beko Ethiopian Robusta has been Variations on a Theme All Our Own since its inception in 2006 (see photo). We use only the finest Arabica beans from our roasters in Seattle, Washington to create this rich flavor profile with notes of chocolate, nuts and leather. The benefits of smallbatch coffees are numerous: they are less expensive per cup than large-batch coffees, they offer a wider variety of flavors and aromas available when drinking them, they produce more complex cups that are harder to replicate using traditional methods. Vernon, Texas is home to the world's first small batch coffee roaster. The Vernon Coffee Company was founded in 1976 by Dick Vernon and his wife, Peggy. Dick Vernon was the first person to roast coffee in a small-batch process. The company has since grown into one of the most successful small batch coffee roasters in the country.
Vernon, Texas is a small town in Northeast Texas on the banks of the Brazos River. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Vernon emerged as a frontier outpost in 1836 when cattle drives led by Colonel James Bowie arrived here from Fort Worth. The first post office was established in 1837 and the present town was founded in 1907 by W.H. Baughman, who also named it after his son Vernon H. Baughman, Jr.. The Baughmans were among the earliest settlers in this area and their descendants still live here today. In 1977, Vernon became one of thirty-six US towns to be designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural significance. Today, Vernon retains its reputation as a lively agricultural community with rich history and many local businesses that contribute to its economy – including two banks, several restaurants and a library.

This company operated under several names before becoming Roestel & Beema in 1885. In 1912, Dutch coffee manufacturer Philips merged with another Dutch coffee company, Koffiekoper Nederland (KNN), creating what is now known as Philips Roestel & Beema. Over time, other countries have joined Philips Roestel & Beema as production locations for our world-famous coffee. Today we export our products to over 150 countries worldwide and are located at more than 60 locations throughout Holland and Belgium.

Vernon, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. Vernon was founded in 1887 by pioneers who were looking for a new location to settle after the closure of the Goliad Coal Mines. The community developed rapidly and soon had a population of around 100 residents. Vernon was named after General James H. Vernon, an early settler in Hudspeth County. In 1906, Vernon became part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and experienced rapid growth as a result. By 1970, Vernon had reached its peak population with over 1,200 residents. However, during the late 1980s and early 1990s Vernon saw significant decline in its economic status due to several factors including decreasing trade and industry within Hudspeth County; rising crime rates throughout Metro Dallas; and a lack of available housing resources in the area. Today, Vernon remains a smalltown with close-knit relationships between its residents and local businesses.
