Uvalde is a small town in south Texas, United States. It is located in the Val Verde County seat of Uvalde. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. The first white people to settle in what is now Uvalde were ranch hands from New Mexico who used the area for grazing and hunting during the 18th century. By 1879, there were 25 families living here. In 1901, General Albert Sidney Johnston founded Fort Worth Air Terminal on an island in Tomahawk Bay and named it after Uvalde, Texas because he thought it would be a commercial center for shipping materials to WWI battlefields farther north. After WWII, air traffic increased significantly as oil production increased alongshore; however, this did not mean that Uvalde became an important commercial center like Fort Worth did. Instead, it lost its significance when Interstate 10 was built in 1991 and US-75 became the main highway through town (although I-10 still runs through town). In recent years there has been redevelopment of some of downtown Uvaldo with businesses and residences moving into the area including a new library/library park which opened in 2007 just across from the old post office building which served as a local high school until 2003 when it closed due to budget cuts by then-Mayor Art Acevedo. There has also been development of several housing developments throughout downtown which makes up for any loss of commercial activity or jobs that may have occurred as a result of I-10 construction proximities

Coffee started being exported to the United States in the mid-19th century, and soon after became very popular in California. America’s first commercial espresso shop opened up in 1856 on Market Street in San Francisco. It was located at the edge of Chinatown and its namesake founder served organic coffee from his own roastery. In 1984, The Tommy Chong Coffee House moved to a new location on Polk Street in downtown San Francisco and continued to serve organic coffee until it closed in 2000.
Uvalde is a small town in southern Texas, located on the banks of the Uvalde River. It was founded in 1872 by Anglo- Mexicans and their Indian allies, who named it for General Antonio López de Uceda, a hero of the Mexican-American War. The name has been changed several times since then, most recently to Vega Heights after rising land prices made it one of the wealthier towns in the area. The earliest settlers were Mexicans who had come overland from Mexico City. They erected homes and stores near what is now downtown Uvalde in 1872. By 1875, there were more than 200 people living in Uvalde. The first school was built at First and Market Streets in 1876; it served as an Academy until 1915 when it became part of the Houston Independent School District. In 1886, Farmers’ Alliance members organized a water system that allowed residents to farm using irrigation water from nearby creeks. In 1912, Mayor Amos Cummings put together a committee to study ways to improve transportation and communications within town limits. After studying various options, they recommended that Uvalde be link with Dallas by way of an express road connecting Brownsville and McKinney. This plan failed but led to the founding of FM 1404 as a bypass around downtown Uvalde which opened in 1933. The post office was established at First Street and San Jacinto Avenue on November 1st, 1888; it served as such until 1966 when it became part of the Dallas Post Office Service (DPS). In 1955–1956, local civic leaders formed the Town Council with authority over local issues such as fire protection, police services, trash collection and zoning changes; this body eventually grew into what is known today as Municipal Court Services (MCS). In 1979–1980 Mayor Arturo Castro created a master Plan for Development called “A New Perspective” which aimed to create new housing opportunities within town limits while preserving older buildings and character streetscape features along Main Street between Elmendorf Boulevard and Commerce Drive/Uvalde Boulevard for future commercial development or public use including shopping centers or entertainment venues; this plan also included plans for increasing access to education by developing new roads leading into town through open space corridors behind existing businesses or providing connections directly connecting schools with other villages or neighborhoods within city boundaries through interurban bus service operated by DPS between Downtown Dallas/Fort Worth (DTOW) - Allen Parkway & I-35W - Greenway Rd., White Rock Lake & I-10 West - US Highway 287 North past Intersection With Loop 610 becoming East Texas Freeway
