Fresh roasted coffee is a centuries old tradition in Universal City, Texas. The first mention of coffee being roasted onsite comes from the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War. In that treaty, America ceded California to Mexico and agreed to recognize the independence of San Antonio as well as all other Mexican states. This agreement led to an influx of Spanish-speaking people into Austin and San Antonio, who began roasting their own coffee. This early roasting process resulted in a higher quality cup of Coffee than what would be available today. In 1907, Dutch Schultz opened Schultz’s Coffee House in Universal City. This business was the first Starbucks location outside of SeattleWA. Schultz started roasting his own beans and selling them direct to consumers. By 1912, he had acquired two acres of land adjacent to the Trinity River for growing coffee trees. The first commercial production begins in 1915 with a small batch for private use by Milton Hershey Jr.. In 1916, World War I interrupted operations at Schultz’s Coffee House and production resumed under new ownership with assistance from Joe Biden Sr.. That same year saw the opening of Roasters International located at 3506 S Main Street in Austin TX which became one of the most influential retail roasteries in history due to its selection and distribution abilities across North America including Canada and Mexico

In 1921, Java Coffee became the second largest grocery store in town after Supervalu’s location on Main Street. Java would later become a clothing store as well before closing its doors in 1984. In 1936, Carl Mueller opened the first movie theater inUniversal City with three screens and called it the Majestic Theatre Incorporated. The theater would later be demolished but its foundation still stands today at 2222 Harrison Ave., just south of Universal Studios property on mixing street adjacent to Hansen’s IGA shopping center. In 1951, Bob Hope opened his first restaurant called Bob Hope's Cafe which would eventually close down after only two years due to financial difficulties. However, Hope's legacy lives on through his son Michael who currently operates the restaurant located at 4255 Wessington Rd., just east of Interstate 10 near Loop 410 interchange

Fresh roasted coffee is a long and complicated history. The first coffee was grown in the Ethiopian Highlands on small trees that were picked fresh daily. Roasting began in early monks’ cells, where hot air and manual labor degraded the beans. Coffee growers in Arabia and Africa developed new methods to roast their beans, but their methods were not very efficient so they were not widely adopted. In 1795, Dutch settlers established a trading post at Kinshasa in present-day Zambia where they started selling coffee to European countries. They brought with them the knowledge of how to roast beans, which greatly improved the quality of the coffee. A few years later, British traders arrived in Nyasaland (now Malawi) and also started trading with Europeans. They introduced different roasting techniques to these regions which led to increased yields and better flavor profile for coffee from these areas. In 1855, Prince Suliman Ali al-Husseini founded an Ottoman state in present-day Iraq that became known as Baghdad after he became its ruler. He wanted to promote Turkish culture throughout his empire so he started importing coffees from espresso plants located near Constantinople (Istanbul). These cafes served as centers of learning for Turks who would go there for instruction on various topics such as theology, medicine, engineering and commerce. Consequently, Baghdad became one of the most important caffeine production centers during this time period because it had excellent resources such as good soil and climate conditions; moreover Hussein cultivated relationships with many major caffeine producers including Java ( Indonesia ), Ethiopia , Italy , Spain , Switzerland . After World War I erupted in 1914 following Austria-Hungary 's annexation of Bosnia – Herzegovina ; Hussein decided it was time for him to discontinue exporting Iraqi coffees because he did not believe they could compete with those coming from Europe . However, some Iraqis continued buying Iraqi coffees even though Hussein no longer sold them due to their resell value being higher than European products at this point
