James Polk and Robert E. Lee, were students there in 1876. Tomball has a long and varied history dating back to when it was first settled by pioneers in the early 1800s. As a small town, Tomball experienced many boom periods during its early years – including two period of rapid growth (1890 and 1920). However, today's economy is much more diversified and less reliant on agriculture than it once was; most residents rely instead on services such as health care, education, retail trade, and manufacturing jobs. Kapp, a machinegun and ammunition package as a Christmas present. In 1951, Major General C.L. "Butch" Hill bestowed upon Airman Second Class John Fenton a Colt 1911 handgun as a birthday present. From then on, airmen regularly received gifts from their commanders and fellow service members- often items that would help them in their duties or keep them entertained during deployments. In 1967, Lieutenant Colonel Harry Daugherty presented Airman First Class Clark Leland with an American-made commando knife as part of his birthday celebrations. That same year, Airman First Class Tom Dooley was given a Beretta pistol by his wing commander for participating in Operation Neptune's Spear- the largest Commando action ever staged by USAF forces at that time! Throughout the years,iftanks have been used to convey many different messages and greetings to servicemen and civilians alike- here are just some of the most memorable gifts given: In 2000, Fourth Lt.(jg) Darrell Joudreau was given an M1 carbine as part of his promotion award for excellence while deployed aboard USS George Washington (CVN 71) in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). That same year also saw the presentation of America's newest weapon system-the Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS! In 2003, Sergeant First Class Branden Stephens became the first serviceman to be awarded valorously for action against terrorists following Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). He was presented with two M4A1 rifles by General Charles Waldhauser III after he thwarted an terrorist attack on Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst ( NJ), which left three Marines dead and dozens injured! In 2009, Master Sergeant Brett Kissel became only the second enlisted individual ever awarded both Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) and Silver Star(SS) following actions fought during Operation Noble Eagle-(the leading military campaign against Osama bin Laden). This unique honor came about because Kissel flew over Afghanistan multiple times providing support to coalition forces During operations “AllIED Strike”and “Global Reach”; these were highly classified operations which required advanced flying techniques not commonly available to non commissioned officers at that time

Tomball is a small town located in Tomball County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,635 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tomball-West Tomball-League City Combined Statistical Area. The first European to explore and settle in what is now Tomball was Antonio de la Garza, who landed on the present day island of San Patricio in 1540. He named it after his patron saint, Thomas Becket. In 1836, John Hogg settled here with his family and built Hogg's Station on what is now FM 3690. A post office called Tomball was established in 1837 and remained in operation until 1959. In 1861, when Texas became an independent country, parts of this area were included within the new state of Baylor County (later Houston). On December 29th, 1861 a deed was issued by Sam Houston to James Fenton for 640 acres (about ), including current day Tomball Township and six westwardaconjunction tracts lying east of I-10 between US 59 and US 287 (the present site of West University Place). This grant made Fenton owner-in-chief over all land within Poston’s limits south of FM 710 extending down to Big Spring Creek; including present day Eastside Elementary Schoolsite as well as any watercourse or stream crossings which may be situated therein. Fenton also received title to two other parcels: one containing 1 acre (about ) north of FM 710 about which nothing remains today except a long ellipse cut into the earth near FM 620 about midway between South Loop Road and FM 1960; while another parcel containing 100 acres (about ) lay east of I-610 just west of US 290 near Clear Lake Boulevard/US 281 intersection. These grants are significant because they indicated that Poston already had title to lands beyond those mentioned above – both totaling some 400 acres (almost ). further evidence comes from records kept by District Clerk James Pritchard during Reconstruction days when most local property titles were still held by men such as Poston himself or their husbands or sons rather than being passed down through families like they are today. For example on page 2 under “Tomball Township Tracts Granted By Sam Houston To James Fenton” we find the following: On January 12th 1865 Confederate General Braxton Bragg arrived at Fort Worth from Huntsville with orders to march against General Union Major General Ulysses S Grant at Prairie View A&M University without battle because he knew Grant would not fight if he could avoid it! So BrigadierGeneral Bragg ordered Captain Waddell with three companies full artillery plus 150 cavalry led by Major General John C HoodTo cross Red River Bridge over Brazos River Without Battle Just After Dark using these meager means only expecting 500 soldiers all together instead got 1300 men total divided equally among 3 generals so there wasn't really much fighting going on then either...still pretty impressive
