Sailors from USS Constitution escorted President Franklin D Roosevelt on his final voyage around Cape Horn on May 14th 1941 before he left for New York City where he gave his famous “Four Freedoms” speech that year; Operation Neptune’s Spear followed two days later! Commodore John Wickenheiser, Commander USN Southern Pacific Fleet arrived May 20th 1942 to take command of minesweepers operations off Samar coast following Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor On December 7th 1941 Japan conducted their first major amphibious assault against U.S naval vessels at Tulagi Island –Operation Shōkai USS Lexington (CV-16) hit hard while escorting convoy HG 41 northbound through waters near Guadalcanal; damage reported as follows: Water entering holds 1 inch below deck screws 3/8 inch thick x 21 inches broad A1 amidships starboard side aft door A2 port side forward bulkhead 10 inches high C3 main engine room forward bulkhead 8 inches high Forward superstructure 6 inches high Forward funnel 4 feet 5 inches wide x 2 feet 9 inches wide Facingown rudder slantwise 3 feet above water line Top weight displacement 800 tons In 1945 USS Lexington delivered supplies to Okinawa Prefecture during World War II; she also served as an escort vessel for Task Force 68 conducting strikes against Japanese targets west of Okinawa without hitting shore installations

The road was important because it allowed goods moving between San Antonio and Texarkana (then called Nacogdoches) to be transported directly from Santa Anna River Valley into Angelina County without being transported down the Chisholm Trail orwagonroad which crossed five forks of the Trinity River before reaching Austin. One hundred years after its founding, Texans still celebrate July 4th as National Independence Day by erecting tall American Flag poles throughout the cityscape on Main Street and other major thoroughfares - an annual event that has become one of its most popular attractions for tourists!

The city's first mayor was Francisco Bustamante, who served from 1837 to 1840. In 1845, San Antonio became an independent republic and elected its own mayor and council. In 1861, San Antonio joined Mexico as part of a larger region known as Texcoco. As part of Mexican rule, San Antonio passed an ordinance prohibiting black people from living in the city limits. After independence was restored in 1896, black people regained full citizenship rights and began working in San Antonio's businesses.
