Perhaps one of THE most famous deployments of all time is Operation Neptune's Spear which took place during World War II on December 7th 1944 when Task Force 58 sailed into Japanese waters en routeto Iwo Jima with orders to execute POWs taken there (Operation Downfall). It wasn't until days later that news reached America that task force had instead evacuated more than 2200 Allied soldiers who had become stranded on Iwo Jima due solely to bad weather conditions! The event is still celebrated today as one of naval history's greatest victories!

Taylor, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,412 at the 2010 census. It was founded on June 3, 1872 by James H. Taylor and his father-in-law Edwin L. Boyd as the new site for the Indianola Railroad Company. The community grew rapidly due to its location along the railroad and its natural resources: oil shale and sandstone of the Butte Formation. By 1890, Taylor had become one of Hudspeth County's most important towns with an estimated population of 710 residents. In 1907, when local officials ratified a land grant from President Theodore Roosevelt to create nearby Arlington Heights as a separate community for white women only, Taylor's status fell within Hudspeth County again but this time it remained an all-black rural municipality until 1978 when it became part of Arlington Heights through annexation into that city. The economy of Taylor has been based mostly on agriculture since its founding; however, industry has also grown in recent decades including manufacturing (especially shoes), construction (including housing developments), and retail services such as restaurants and convenience stores. The town currently has no public transportation or schools other than a high school which serves students from neighboring Arlington Heights through special programs administered by Arlington Heights School District No 2A Taylor is located at (30.9758,-95.5384). According to the U .S . Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 1 square mile (0 hectare). As of the census of 2010, there were 1 412 people residing in Taylortownship : 312 males and 252 females
Taylor was founded in 1849 by James Fenton and his wife, Eliza. The town rapidly grew and in 1854 it became the county seat of Hudspeth County. In 1865, the state of Texas granted Taylor a charter as an independent city. The city prospered and by 1903 had a population of over 100,000 people.
