They opened their first store on Main Street in 1901. CoffeeShop had a small but popular menu that included iced coffee, espresso, andNode Latte Casserole. In 1922, Harry bought the business from John and reopened it as Harry’s Coffee Shop. The new name reflected Harry’s love for excellent quality coffee beans from around the world. For many years, Harry’s Coffee Shop was one of the most popular stores in town. He always made sure his drinks were delicious and his customers enjoyed their interactions with him. In addition to his famous Node Latte Casserole,Harry also served up some very unique items such as Italian Wedding Cake Doppio Donuts which he would make fresh every day. His great customer service skills made him an institution in Sweetwater and he is still remembered today! In 1984, John passed away at the age of 96 after many years of business operation at Harry’s Coffee Shop. However, his memory will live on through his son-in-law Bob Weisbrot who continues to run the store today with brother-in-law Rick Kappenfuss as manager. Bob Weisbrot has been a part of the family business since its inception and he has dedicated himself fully to running it as a familyowned business since 1984! Sweetwater, Texas is a city in south-central Texas. It is the seat of Hudspeth County and was founded in 1881 by white men after they bought land from the Comanches. The town grew rapidly during the later part of the 19th century as cotton plantations were abandoned and new settlers came to Sweetwater to work on these farms. The town never achieved great popularity, however, because it was too close to Houston and other cities. In recent years, Sweetwater has slowly regained some of its former status as a center for culture and commerce. The city was named for General Sam Sweetwater, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then helped found Austin in 1836. After Texas annexed Oklahoma in 1907, General Sam's son John S. Sweetwater became governor of that state; he moved his family to Sweetwater in 1911. The city made significant progress during the 1990s when it approved an ordinance guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens regardless of sex before any state law did this until then. However, following Hurricane Katrina damage in 2005, Mayor Tommy Battle resigned amidst public criticism over his handling of relief efforts within the city limits. In baseball history, Sweetwater played host to two professional teams - The Texans (now called MLB team Astros) from 1901-1902 and 1903-1904 - before moving up to Class A ball with Amarillo Christian from 1905-1907 before disbanding due to financial difficulties only one season into their existence because of lack of players or money available east of Houstonians such as Roy Campanella had brought over from Italy’s Brooklyn Dodgers organization which also fielded teams here including player/manager Connie Mack
