In 1954, Mayor John Fritch designated the city’s Hafen Park as the “Marine Museum and Aquarium” and began to offer Marine gifts to local residents and businesses. The firstinstallation at Hafen Park was an aquarium with 11 tanks that housed both fresh and salt water fish.
