It was staffed by soldiers from Fort Sam Houston Depot. The store continued to be open during World War II and 1945 as well as during the Korean War. After the war ended, Army Store closed down but it is still remembered today for being one of the first places where people could purchase items related to soldier deployments. In 1957, an additional store called "Army Exchange Stores" opened up in Sweetwater County and it continues to operate today. In 1961, an event occurred which has been cited as one of the earliest examples of army deployed gift in Sugar Land: The opening of Fort Worth Federal Credit Union with its own soldiers stationed at Fort Worth Airport! At that time, Fort Worth Federal Credit Union was one of only a few banks located within a mile radius of both Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Sweetwater County Courthouse Annex (nowSweetWaterCountyCourthouse). As a result, soldiers from nearby posts would visit Ft Worth Federal Credit Union for their banking needs while stationed at airport or courthouse locations! Between 1961-1978, there were over 50Army Exchange Stores located throughout Texas! Each store offered unique services such as clothes shopping (for active duty members or their families), camping supplies (including food storage units), tools & equipment sales and even car rentals! In 1978-1983, after increased military activity due to Operation Desert Storm – which took place across much of SouthwestTexas – all exchanges closed except for those managed by The American Legion Post 914th Field Artillery Battalion headquartered at Gun Barrel Hill AFB near Waco TX (later renamed Dilley AFB). These stores reopened under new management including That's What We Do Best!, later known as Walmart Supercenter!. Sugar Land, Texas is a city in and the county seat of Galveston County, Texas, United States. The population was 568,821 as of the 2010 census. It is the largest city within Galveston County and one of the fastest-growing cities in America. Sugar Land became a municipality on July 1, 2014. The first people to settle in what is now Sugar Land were Native Americans who hunted deer and other large game in central Texas. In 1836, Mexican soldiers burned down the original house where Houston was born and died. French traders began to establish trading posts along the San Antonio River near present day Sugar Land in 1837. The area became part of Mexico after Texans won their independence from Spain at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 6,1847. In 1872, an act was passed by Congress that established Galveston County as a barrier against railroad development within Texas’s then separate slave states ( Alabama and Mississippi). This act divided Galveston County into two components: WestGalveston (nowHouston) would be part of EastGalveston (now Dallas), while Sam Houston’s original land east of Loop 610 would become part of Austin. The problem with this arrangement was that Houston could not control his own land - he had to lease it from EastGalveston taxpayers through auctioneer licenses which gave him only 7 years to renew or sell his property before it reverted back to EastGalveston hands for full value under law On December 12, 1896, President McKinley issued an Executive Order creating “the City of Sugar Land” out of portions of Harrisburg Township (later annexed by Sugarland) lying west side north thereof line touches water street running thence northerly on said route to Trinity River & thence easterly on said route across Trinity River bridge over same river destroyed by fire

Sugar Land, Texas is a town located in Harris County, Texas. The population was 715 at the 2010 census. Sugar Land has been inhabited by human beings since pre-historic times. The first permanent settlement in what is now Sugar Land was made by the Achemenon people in about 1824. They were descendants of Aboriginal Americans who had fled Spanish colonization of South America. The first white person to live in Sugar Land was James Denton, who founded the town on November 4, 1836. At its founding, Sugar Land consisted of just four homes and two stores. By 1840, sugar plantations had arrived in the area and development grew rapidly thereafter. Between 1840 and 1860, Sugarland’s population increased from 3 to over 100 families. In 1875, a post office was established at Sugarland and began receiving mail from all over Texas; this service continued until 1907 when it was discontinued due to lack of interest among the inhabitants. One reason for the slow growth of sugartowns during this time period may have been their relative isolation from other settlements in rural areas throughout much of Texans history as well as their reliance on agriculture for their economic sustenance which did not experience significant change until after World War II when oil became available to drive more dramatic changes into local economies In 1876, George Washington Negron opened his grocery store at what is now Houston Street and soon began selling groceries door-to-door throughout Harris County; he also built a house near present day Minute Maid Park that served as his store headquarters until 1909 when he moved his business to Dallas (then known as Sam Houston Park).
