Southlake is a town in Cooke County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. It began as a small Mormon settlement on the banks of the Trinity River in 1873 and grew to become one of the most affluent communities in North Texas with high-end shopping malls and restaurants. The first gourmet coffee shop opened in Southlake in 1978 by three friends who were looking for an opportunity to sell their coffee beans directly to consumers rather than through wholesalers or middlemen. They named their business "Gourmet Coffee". Gourmet Coffee became well known for its quality coffee products and was later joined by other similar businesses such as Joe's Café & Bakery and David's Coffee Emporium before finally becoming an anchor tenant at two large shopping malls - Richardson Plaza (now called Omni Richardson) and Plano Mills - which anchored these two malls from the early 1990s until they closed down in 2006. In addition to its retail stores, Gourmet Coffee also operated a call center that handled orders placed over the phone from customers located throughout Cooke County. This service helped contribute to Gourmet Coffee's nickname of "the local favorite." In 1999, Gourmet Coffee introduced its own line of espresso machines which are still used today by many of its retailers across Cooke County. The company also initiated a limited edition subscription program that offered unique gifts each month such as teas from different roasters or invitation-only events like wine tastings etc., which continue today as one of Gourmet Coffees' signature features. Today, Gourmet Cafe operates out of five locations across Cooke County: three in Dallas and two in Fort Worth; along with online sales operations via Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Facebook Marketplace under the name "GCPE." Southlake, Texas is a city in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex of North Texas. The population was 165,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Arlington-Ft Worth Combined Statistical Area. Southlake is located in northern Dallas County and southern Collin County. The name "Southlake" probably comes from either Spanish or French (la Selva meaning "the upland"), as it was formerly a rancho called Selvas de la Loma (now known as Parkland). The first settler in what became Southlake was Urias Gomez, who arrived in 1836. In 1866, John Witherspoon founded Arlington Heights on land that he had purchased from Mexican settlers and named after his home town of Arlington, Virginia. In 1907, South Lake Avenue was built east of I-635 to connect Arlington Heights with downtown Dallas. At that time the only way to get to downtown Dallas was by car or horseback ride. A streetcar line ran through what is now MidtownDallas starting in 1916 and ended near Elmendorf Road/UptownDallas in 1953; this streetcar line still operates today as Loop 1604A operated by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). In 1954, whenTxDOT created Collin County Parkway East from I-35W to UptownDallas through Kaufman ISD., Southlake Boulevard became part of this new roadway which extended all the way to Denton Plaza Shopping Center just south of Interstate 675/ State Highway 210 and east into Collin County concurrent with FM 19606 south of University Drive/Pinecreste Drive in Collinwood Village adjacent to Plano High School

Coffee spread rapidly through Europe during this era thanks largely to Dutch sailors who sailed across oceans bringing trade goods such as coffee back home with them

Southlake, Texas is a city in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bastrop County. The first settlers in what is now Bastrop County were a group of Methodist Episcopal missionaries who arrived in 1836. They named their new county after General David Fannin and his unit of cavalry known as the "Cavalry of Christ". In 1841, Southlake was chartered as a town by the Republic of Texas and became the capital of that state. In 1865, Southlake became an independent republic when it seceded from Texas to form The Confederate States of America. In 1898, during World War I Southlake served as an airfield for American forces fighting on the Western Front. After the war ended, it returned to its original name and became an agricultural center with extensive cotton plantations until white flight began in the early 21st century. Today, Southlake remains a primarily agricultural community with some light industrial activity (such as a plastics manufacturing plant).
In 1836, Texans voted to admission into the Union as a new nation. The area that is now Southlake was part of the Mexican land grant of Bexar County to Antonio L. Sanchez. In 1853, Texas became a state and in 1861, it seceded from the United States to become an independent country called Republic of Texas. The town of Southlake was founded by Scottish immigrants in 1856 and quickly grew into a small community with some 7,000 residents by 1870. The town experienced rapid growth thanks to its advantageous location on the Butterfield Trail and its access to resources such as cotton and cattle production. By 1900, Southlake had reached its current size with over 20,000 residents and had become one of the most important commercial centers in Texas.
