Southlake is a city located in Dallas County, Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 166,752. The city was founded on October 24, 1881 by John Hance and his family. Southlake became a city on December 12, 1912. The current mayor is Richard M. Daley who was elected in November of 2013. The namesake for Southlake is J.Hance (1848-1925), an entrepreneur and rancher who founded Southlake Mills between 1881 and 1882 as a way to produce cotton that could be sold throughout the region. In 1898 J.Hance donated land to build what would become South Lake Meadows Park which offers panoramic views of downtown Dallas from its bluffs overlooking University Heights and US Highway 75/I-45 interchange). Juanita Hance (née Sawyer) started out as head cook at the new home of her husband John Hance while he built South Lakeshire Hotel on Elm Street near present day Eastmont Drive in 1911; later that year she married him and they moved into their first home at 6001 Cherry Hill Road west of town center In 1922 Juanita gave birth to their only child – James Lyle Sawyer – but soon afterwards he died due to meningitis brought about by chickenpox contracted during a trip to Mexico City with his father just two months old . James’s mother took care of him until he turned one year old before returning home for good On July 4th, 1925 Juanita married Dr . Fenton Wylie (1892-1974) at Episcopal Cathedral where they had been married less than three weeks when Fenton passed away from peritonitis caused by hepatitis C contracted working with white patients at Baylor Hospital in Houston Joséfina also attended services along with her children Blanca (baptized Jacqueline), Silvia (baptized Sylvia) and Enrique Jr . All five children were raised within close proximity of each other until Blanca left for college in 1967 followed by Enrique Jr ’s successful professional career as an insurance salesman before becoming Mayor Pro Tem in 2003 , after which all six children rejoin their parents permanently outside the city limits

Southlake is a city in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Southlake was named after John A. Southlake, who donated land to make it a town in 1892. On December 4, 1893, the first post office in Southlake opened with mail from Dallas. In 1907, Southlake's first fire department was organized and its first law enforcement officer was hired. In 1911, the Texas Legislature passed an act creating Gregg County and putting Southlake within it. The city's growth continued apace until World War II when its population decreased because of military service and lack of new housing developments. After World War II ended, Southlake experienced a period of rapid economic growth as a result of oil exploration and production in nearby Eagle Ford shale formations. This prosperity led to tensions between local residents and developers over control of valuable resources such as water supplies and telecommunications lines; these disagreements eventually led to two major fires that destroyed much of downtownSouth Lakeie during the late 1960s-early 1970s: one in 1969 caused by arsonist Charles Tittley and another in 1973 caused by vandals associated with American Electric Power Co.'s (AEP) then-new Dallas nuclear plant expansions project known as "The Dome."
