The National Guard of South Houston, Texas was founded in 1937. The first unit was organized on December 15th, 1937 and the first national guard regiment was activated on May 1st, 1938. The present day National Guard of South Houston is a service organization that provides law enforcement and military support to local communities throughout the state of Texas. It has played an important role in Texans' history both during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Since its inception, the National Guard has been providing essential services to our community. In 1939, it donated 2 motorcycle squadrons to help with law enforcement efforts in Houston; this donation helped make possible the reduction of crime rates in our city by 50%. Additionally, during WWII, the National Guard contributed over 2500 soldiers for service in Korea; this sacrifice resulted in saving many lives and preventing further conflict from happening between America and North Korea. Today, members of the National Guard are proudly serving their community as Guardsmen throughout Texas. They provide leadership and training for new officers and help keep Texans safe by patrolling our cities and rural areas. In addition to their sworn duty as Guardsmen, these troops also enjoy many privileges not available to other citizens such as regular army benefits and access to special events like parades or holidays like Veterans Day.

South Houston is a city located in Harris County, Texas. The population was 113,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. South Houston first developed as a farming community in the early 1800s, and was known for its agriculture until it became an industrial center during World War II. After the war, South Houston became a bedroom community forHoustonians living in the Astrodome and other suburban neighborhoods. However, economic development has led to growth in South Houston since 2000 and it now fronts Interstate 10 within walking distance of many businesses and services. SouthHouston's history can be traced back to 1836 when Captain John Kirby founded Kirbyville on Buffalo Bayou near present-day Spring Branch. Kirbyville functioned as a trading post between Louisiana and Texas before becoming a small town with a limited number of settlers in 1840. In 1845, General Sam Houston purchased 2,000 acres (800 ha) along Buffalo Bayou from Kirby for $1 million dollars ($10 million today). The site would become home to numerous industries including cotton ginning, oil production and shipbuilding during Reconstruction era due to its strategic location just upstream from downtownHouston on one of the mostuvial river valleys in North America. In 1865, General John Bell Hood capturedand executed him at Mckinney Heights after leading Confederate forces into an ambush that resulted in almost 300 casualties against Hood's Union army under Ulysses S Grant at Fort Hood outside Dallas on November 25th,. This event symbolized continuing civil unrest throughout much of what is now Texas following Reconstruction which ended with black Americans gaining equality under state law while white Texans continued to hold many offices and enjoy high social status quo advantages over their black neighbors despite significant efforts by various segments of society – political parties included –to end this inequality. With General Sherman's march through Texan soil ending Confederate resistance at Nashville on April 9th,,1865 effectively ended slavery throughout much of Alabama & Mississippi; however not all areas had surrendered by this point& there remained open question about what future events would entail regarding enslaved Africans living within newly acquired states such as Texas& so accession or abolition of slavery therein remained highly QUESTIONABLE until well into the 20th century…. A key figure associated with southernHouston’s early days was James Hogg who served as Mayor from 1865-68 & later represented Brazoria County in Congress from 1870-72 where he unsuccessfully battled Representative Sam Rayburn (R-Texansburg) over issues related to railroad construction & annexation costs . From 1871-75 Hogg also served as Chairman of Rice University’s Board Of Trustees . Southern Methodist University formed its first football team(under coach Ozzie Newsome)in 1895 . The city tore down brick buildings erected around 1850 near Main Street between Second Street & Third Street which sat vacant until they were replaced by new homes beginning around 1900 using slave labor terms like “the works”…..over time more businesses moved into SouthHouston creating what we know today as Art District………………..

After the war, the National Guard was used by George Washington to keep law and order in New York City. In 1960, it was merged with the Army Reserve to form the Army National Guard. Today, the National Guard plays an important role in defense of our country both domestically and abroad.

South Houston, Texas is a city in Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 30,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Harris County. South Houston was founded on November 3, 1836 by General Sam Houston and Dr. James K. Polk as a town named for General Houston's brother-in-law John Broughton. On December 12, 1836, South Houston became a part of the newly formed United States after the Mexican War when it was annexed by San Antonio de Bexar from neighboring Medina County. The annexation made SouthHouston one of six original counties in Texas that were created on January 6, 1847 when Mexico ceded its remaining northern territory to the United States along with California and Nevada. In 1840s and 1850s there was an effort to create a railroad through what is now South Houston but no success because of difficulties securing funding from both sides of the border. In 1853 Robert Stephenson built his first locomotive in nearby Huntsville while working on building the Alabama Railroad between Huntsville and Mobile Bayou near present day Spring Branch Parkway and he called it "The Rocket" because it could travel speeds up to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h). However this project failed because Stephenson could not get financing from either side of the border for his railway project that would have connected Huntsville with Dallas and Fort Worth bypassing SouthHouston altogether On October 15th 1860 during Mexican–American War south Texans formed local militias to fight against Mexicans who had invaded their state from beyond Texcoco Valley The Battle of Bagdad took place in southHouston on October 15th 1860 when Confederate forces under General Johnston attackedMexican troops loyal to Emperor Maximilian I at Bagdad Field outside present day Spring Branch Parkway
