Nowhere was this more apparent than during Operation Neptune’s Spear which spanned four months from December 1944 to January 1945 and saw Americans bomb Japan night after night without any loss to our own troops or civilians. These men and women made an even greater impact on our nation during WWII thanks to their unselfish dedication; something which has continued through every conflict since then! Since Korea as well as Desert Storm there have been numerous deployments for members of the United States Armed Forces throughout Southwest Asia – much like our veteran brothers & sisters who have served here at Homecomings ceremonies across America each year crowding into SBC Center or Red River Valley Municipal Airport for live music, food truck pardners & general airshows! The marines brought a variety of gifts to the local community in an effort to show support for local businesses and organizations.
South Houston is a city located in Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,644 at the 2010 census. It is part of theHouston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. South Houston is bounded by the 610 Loop to the south and east, Spring Branch Creek to the north, and Rice University to the west. South Houston's history can be traced back to 1836 when General Sam Houston sold land including what is now South Houston to Major John Hogg for $1 million dollars. In 1840, Colonel John Pemberton purchased land from General Houston for $2 million dollars making it one of the largest cotton plantations in Texas at that time. In 1846 an act passed by Congress authorized annexation of Galveston County and organized Brazoria County as well as Harris County which included South Houston. On December 15th of that year Brazoria County was formally annexed into Harris County and on January 3rd of 1847 City Council voted to name SouthHouston after James Hogg who had donated land for it. In 1865 Confederate General Robert Ewell attacked Union forces during operations in Galveston Bayou near present day Montrose Boulevard and Main Street while they were besieging Fort Bend Island resulting in more than 150 killed, wounded or missing with over 5,000 Confederate soldier losses alone! As a result of this attack many Texans saw themselves as being under siege and began to call SouthHouston "The Sinking Ship". In 1898during McKinley's term as president new immigration laws were enacted which led to increased competition among American businesses for Mexican labor causing some jobs in home industries such as clergy teaching religious classes or farming closed down altogether; however local businessmen continued importing Mexicans until 1906 when all immigration ceased due To World War I restrictions imposed by America's allies Great Britain and France respectively! This left many African Americans working off-the-books slavery but not having legal status making them vulnerable to exploitation by employers/owners etc... This problem would only become worse with Brown v Board Of Education (1954) which outlawed segregation within public schools based on race but did not apply equally between races going forward soAfrican Americans could no longer get education or work without risking social discrimination! It wasn’t until 1971 when then Mayor Annise Parker set up programs aimed at helping African American citizens obtain government benefits like health care through Medicaid while still living below poverty line! From then on things slowly started changing for African Americans with more opportunities becoming available starting with integration into mainstream society beginning with voting rights granted following passage of The Voting Rights Act Amendmentsof 1965! However these gains wouldn’t last long as economic stagnation followed during most parts of our nation’s history culminating in recent cycles of racism & wealth inequality which continue today despite various efforts made at social change throughout our community!!!

In 1840, Houston became a city and incorporated as a result of annexation by Austin. One of the most important events in South Houston's history occurred in 1861 when Confederate Major General Robert Ewell decided to move his army from Austin toHouston in order to attack Fort Hood. Approximately 1,000 Texans were killed during this battle which helped spurTexas into secession from the United States. After the war ended, many Texans who had fought forthe Confederacy moved toHouston where they founded what is now called Black History Month Committee
