Fresh roasted coffee has a long and varied history in Seguin, Texas. The first mention of coffee being roasted in this town was in 1860 when a group of Germans immigrated to the area. Coffee beans were rotted and ground on the family farm until 1876 when a shop called the Dutchman started selling coffee. In 1887, Mr. Hubbell opened the first grocery store in Seguin and began to sell coffee. By 1912, there were three grocery stores in Seguin and three restaurants serving coffee. In 1916, Mrs. Bigham opened her own bakery that served fresh-roasted coffee from her house as well as baked goods including pies and pastries. On November 12th of that year, Mr. Hubbell’s store burned down but his daughter Dora continued to serve hot chocolate with sugar cookies for customers until she closed down permanently in 1922 after suffering from tuberculosis which eventually killed her. In 1924, J P Shanks opened what is now known as Joe's Coffee Roasters on Main Street in Seguin and continued the tradition of fresh-roasted coffee service here at their business until they retired in 1978. In 1990, Donny's Coffee began operations here as a small local café serving espresso drinks (and later tea) along with fresh-roasted coffees every day from their farmhouse location on Loop 410 East near IH 40 (now privately owned). They continue to operate today as one of the oldest continuously operating cafes within walking distance ofSeguiincitycenter!
It was the morning of November 8, 1876 when a group of men and boys, ages 10 to 12, were walking down a dirt road in Seguin when they came across what would become known as the Day of the Zombie. The event would soon become a annual tradition that is celebrated today by local residents and businesses. On this particular day in 1876, an outbreak of Cholera had occurred in Texas and so people were advised not to drink water or eat food. The men and boys decided to go ahead with their walk anyways and upon reaching the edge of town they came across what they believed was a zombie. They began kicking it and screaming for help but no one seemed to hear them. Suddenly all of a sudden, there was an explosive noise, followed by what sounded like dozens or hundreds of zombies coming out from behind some trees nearby. The men quickly ran back into town while still holding their weapons because they knew that if these monsters got close enough they would definitely kill them all. As it turns out, the zombies only looked human but as soon as they saw any firearms or other devices available to the men, they became enraged and started attacking anyone who got too close. Within minutes more than 20 people had been killed or wounded including 11 children between the ages of 10-12 years old. This incident has long been remembered by locals in Seguin as one of the deadliest single events in their history; however, it actually wasn’t anything like what most people think today. Back then there weren’t any cars or smartphones so photosynthesis couldn’t take place which meant that no bodies could be found afterwards so researchers have to rely on accounts from eyewitnesses combined with evidence found at sites such as this one for information about how things really happened back then. It’s also interesting to note that although some people believe this day may have inspired Zombie Apocalypse II (a movie released in 2009), nobody knows for sure because no documentary has ever been made about it!

Seguin is a town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,874 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The name "Seguin" comes from Spanish and means "place where grass grows." The first settler in Seguin was José María Linares who arrived in 1836. He built a cabin on the east side of what is now Main Street and named it Linares' Mill. In 1837, German immigrant Ludwig Krause bought land near Seguin and founded Krause' log house on what is now Sixth Street. In 1840, Hermann Kallmeyer moved to Seguin from Denton with his family and started a clover production business known as Kallmeyer's Landstrasse (Krause Lane). From here he sold products such as hay, straw, apples, cattle and flowers to farmers in central Texas. In 1845 Jens Sauerstedt arrived from Germany with his family and set up a farm west of present-day Seguin on land that later became part of Springtown Township. In 1850 Jesse Sauerstedt settled north of present-day Seguin on land which later became part of Springtown Township also called Sauerstedt's Prairie. In 1865 John Fetterman settled south of present-day Seguin at an site which would become Fetterman's Corners after he acquired title to some 150 acres (60 hectares) northwest of the current town center when mail carrier James Fetterman ranches there in 1870s. George Waddell located about 2 miles (3 kilometers) northeast of present-day Seguin on high ground overlooking the McKinney River in 1880 while prospecting for oil fields but abandoned his claims soon afterward because they were too difficult to access by wagon or horseback across open prairies covered with salt licks or quicksand riverslides accessible only during low water times due to dikes built by local operators preventing flooding during periods high water). This location would become known as Waddell's Ranch after George Waddell developed it into an agricultural research station operated by Texas A&M University until its sale to Oral Roberts University in 1978 making it one mile NWSW (Magnolia Road NE) off FM 315 next to Oral Roberts Stadium.) 2
