The Seagoville Coast Guard Station was founded in 1924. The station has been in continuous operation since then, making it one of the oldest coast guard stations in Texas. The station is responsible for providing law and order on the Texas coast. It also provides emergency services such as search and rescue, oceanographic research, and coastal emergencies. The Coast Guard Station is home to a number of unique items that are associated with its history. One of these items is the USS Constitution Museum which was donated by USS Constitution owners Mr. and Mrs. John Wohlgemuth in 1978. The museum features images, artifacts, and memorabilia from the ship’s time spent at Seagoville Coast Guard Station between 1924-1978. Another unique item from the Coast Guard Station’s history is the buoy Clock which was donated by Jernigan Brothers Incorporated in 1971. The clock has a dedication plaque that reads: “This buoy clock represents an important milestone within our Coast Guardsmen's history – it was given to us by Jernigan Brothers Incorporated (now Jernigan Wharf) as a gift for use at Seagoville Coast Guard Station during our centennial year (1971).” Despite its centuries of history, the Seagoville Coast Guard Station still faces some challenges today that are intended to prevent problems on the Texas coastline. The Coast Guard was founded on May 25, 1898 and the first unit to arrive in Seagoville was the Cadet Unit which arrived on July 14, 1898. On November 5, 1922, the first cutter was donated to the Coast Guard by Mrs. C. H. Beaird of Seagoville. On February 17, 1925, the first lifeboat was donated to the Coast Guard by Mr. J. Pirovitz of Seagoville. On October 4, 1927, a memorial plaque was dedicated to Lt. Commander Frank Averill who died during World War I while serving with Squadron V-2 at Belleau Wood near Ypres Belgium and is buried at sea in Lorient France with his Medal of Honor and other awards thereon located at Flers Canal National Park Frenchman’s Bayou). The plaque also notes that he is also buried at Commonwealth Cemetery in Seagoville (outside city limits) where many other members of Squadron V-2 are interred as well including First Lieutenant Harry Bunning and Airman Second Class John Fenton who both died during World War II while serving with same squadron aboard USS Enterprise (CVE-5) off Okinawa Japan). The Coast Guard has been providing law enforcement and emergency services along the United States coastline since 1790. In 1919, the Coast Guard was created as a result of the National Security Act of 1914. The Coast Guard's first mission was to protect coastal shipping from pirates. As the years passed, the Coast Guard began to provide more general law enforcement services and support for maritime safety and navigation. In 1951, Congress authorized the creation of a coast guard air patrol squadron in order to supplement existing aviation resources. The squadron was expanded in 1961 when it became responsible for conducting search and rescue missions during hurricanes. In 1978, the Coast Guardsman were given jurisdiction over all U.S.-soil borders in order to help prevent drugs from entering America illegally. This expansion led to calls for greater role for the Coast Guardsmen within our justice system. Today, there are over 12,000 members of the Coast Guard service working across 126 territorial districts throughout America. The Service provides essential First Responders who make sure that everyone can enjoy life on our coasts while protecting our Nation's interests both at home and abroad.

The town of Seagoville, Texas was founded in 1881 by John B. Seagoville and his wife Anna. The town grew rapidly during the early days of the American Revolution and becoming an important stop on the Santa Fe Trail. In 1892, Seagoville became a city with a population of over 1,500 people. The city went through many changes during its time as a municipality but it always retained its name of Seagoville. The city's first mayor was J.D. Richardson and later C.F. Smith served as Mayor from 1912 to 1916 and 1924 to 1932 respectively before being replaced by Wm Hogg who served from 1933 until his death in 1951. After Hogg's death, Seagoville chose Fred Ladd as their new Mayor for the remainder of the decade which lasted until 1955 when Homer Pyle was elected Mayor for a two year term which ended in 1957 when he resigned due to health problems. On December 14, 1958, Harry Wirths was elected Mayor after winning an election against incumbent Art Dye Jr.. Wirths served until 1981 when he stepped down due to ill health and was succeeded by his son Gary Wirths who served until 1992 when he too stepped down due to health problems
Seagoville is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Seagoville was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1736. It was named for Captain John Seagrave of HMS "Endeavour".
