The United States Army was founded in 1775, and its first unit was the 1st Battalion of Infantry. The Continental Army was disbanded in 1783, but the army was re-established in 1784 as the 3rd Regiment of Infantry. The 3rd Regiment of Infantry served throughout the American Revolution and into World War I. In World War II, the regiment fought on both fronts in Europe and Japan. After World War II, the regiment became an infantry battalion again and served until 1973 when it was redesignated as a brigade Combat Team. From 1973 to 2011, it served as a divisional headquarters battalion within III Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) of I Corps. In 2011, it became part of VII Corps headquartered at Fort Hood south Texas. Since its establishment in 1775, the United States Army has given out over 1 million military gift items totaling more than $610 million dollars. The Saginaw, Texas Army National Guard was activated on November 8th, 1917. The unit was at first commanded by Captain James H. Whitman and Lt. Colonel George W. Farrington until December 1917 when Col. George W. Farrington resigned his commission to become a Major in the U.S. Military Expeditionary Force during World War I which led to Brigadier General John Prentice taking command of the unit from December 17th-24th, 1917; however, on January 14th 1918 Major General John Prentice resigned due to health problems and Lieutenant Colonel Edwin A. White took command instead effective February 1st 1918; until May 1919 when Lieutenant Colonel Willis Jurgenson became captain and continuing captain until June 1923 when he retired due to age; however Majors Edward Meeks (May 1924-March 1925) and Clifford Crouse (April 1926-December 1930) continued as captains with duty only at home base Camp Hood until March 1933 when they both resigned their commissions effective April 1st 1933 becoming civilians thenceforth known as Commanders of the Saginaw Army National Guard Museum
Saginaw, Texas is a small town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hidalgo County. The name Saginaw comes from the Choctaw word sah-gina meaning "inland place." The first settlers in this area were Cherokee who moved into what is now Saginaw in 1836. In 1881, Saginaw became a city and it has since grown to be one of the largest cities in northeast Texas. The city has experienced many changes over the years including becoming an open-air market with several food stores and restaurants along Main Street; being redeveloped as a retail center with new shopping developments such as Sears; and finally experiencing a resurgence as a bedroom community for north central Dallas which annexed it in 2006.

Saginaw, Texas is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. The name "Saginaw" comes from the Mission Santa Fe de la Frontera which was founded by Antonio López de Santa Anna and named for Saginaw River in Michigan Territory, where he had been born on October 6, 1779. It has also been spelled Saginaw and Beaumont before settling on its current spelling in 1872 when it became a part of Midland County seat of Bay City. The first settler in what is now Saginaw was James Houston who arrived there on July 16, 1836 while hunting buffalo along the Arkansas River. He named his new land after General Sam Houston's home county of Anahuac (now El Paso). At the time Houston settled near what is now downtown Saginaw he may have seen an ad for land east of US-80 that would become Bay City if it weren't for some confusion caused by George Hargrave's map which mistakenly showed San Jacinto as lying to the south of Bay City proper and within Mexican territorial boundaries instead of east of US-80 as it actually did. When Hargrave realized his mistake he quickly corrected it but not before Buffalo Bill Cody saw him do so and offered to buy Hargrave's share should he ever find himself overreacting again! In fact, Cody never visited or resided in Bay City until after its incorporation into Midland County in 1872! As early as 1836 French Canadian trader André Picard had set up a trading post at present day Terminal Island on Neches Peninsula just upstream from modern day Saginaw harbor mouth enabling fur traders to enter Upper Louisiana waters through this natural gateway providing access to resources such as oil and coal necessary for their trade with southern Canada and Mexico. By 1840 more than twenty fur traders had established posts along both sides of the bay including those at present day Moundville (just east of today's downtown) Red Oak Point (northwest corner today’s Midland Park), Isabella Point opposite modern day Harbor Springs Village, Point Isabelle north side today’s Isabella Heights Neighborhood, Asbury Beach northwest corner today’s Asbury Park neighborhood In addition several smallpox quarantine barracks were built near Ft Worth during this time period with victims transported there via steamboat across Lake Texoma then transported by horseback across Tillman Ford where they caught public transportation back to their quarantine barracks before being released into general circulation In less than one year all these posts except Isabella Beach were eliminated due primarily to disease rather than Indian attack or warfare In 1845 Colonel John Fenton organized a militia unit called Company D outfitted with artillery under Captain Elijah Vance commanded by Rufus King entitled “The Black Kettle Regiment” although company headquarters initially stood just outside modern day Saginaw on School Road about two miles west side between White Flint Creek & Big Spring creek thence turning southeast onto Elm Street thence continuing southwest until arriving at Carrington Cemetery about four miles northeast corner State Highway 84 later known as I-10 . Afterward company Headquarters moved permanently to nearby Elmhurst Barracks becoming Fort Fenton where cannonballs still fly abovecurrent building currently used by Army Main Command Post GIs stationed there during peacetime military missions etc.. Although Company D disbanded six months later following defeat at Battle Of Plum Bluff Missouri due largely to lack equipment & leadership lack thereof Fenton ordered another battalion raised and forwarded word directly to Washington D C requesting assignment here soonest rather long Siege Of New Orleans planned thereafter This Battalion became known As The 1st United States Infantry Regiment Voluntarily Constituted December 14th1846 On November 15th1848 finally relieved from duty at Fort Donelson Alabama due mostly logisticallyN/A Once again garrisoning nothing much happened until June 25th 1850 when President Zachary Taylor approved Order For Garrison At Mobilebay Mississippi Named Ifredy Presidnt Polk subsequent operations here ensued brigadier General Mckinney took command September 1st 1850 remaining until February 23rd1851 when order was withdrawn effective immediately because shipwrecked USS Perry lost anchors off shore rendering MobileBay uninhabitable Click HERE For More details concerning this event formerly known as Perry Massacre In 1861 central Texas Confederate forces attacked Union forces encampment around Pearl Harbor resulting in Union loss control over much parts including most importantly MobileBay naval base which eventually led directly to Confederacy's surrender
