Sachse is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Sachse is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The first settler in Sachse was John Sager in 1849. A post office called Sager was established in 1858, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The town name may be derived from the German word "Sacht" meaning "humble." This may be why the town's namesake, John Sager, felt so humble about his land and settlement choice. In 1871, a railroad line was built through Sachse and began service to Fort Worth. This made Sachse an important commercial center for Tarrant County and helped grow the economy of the area by providing goods and services to settlers across North Texas. During World War II, Sachse played a significant role as one of three major U.S. Army Air Forces Sites located within Tarrant County – Operation Crossroads (RAF Laughlin AFB), on behalf of General George Custer’s forces; RAF Fairford Lodge on Richards-Griggs Airfield adjacent to Laughlin AFB; and RAF Coltishall near Beech Grove Road & Airport Rd., which housed Eighth Air Force Bomber Command Operations drop zones during 1944-45 operations against Germany primarily targeting industrial targets such as bridges over the Rhine River and dams along that stretch of river bordering Belgium/Netherlands). With its strategic location within easy reach of both Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex residents as well as all points eastward along I-35W via Austin/I-10E & SH 288 WYMPRRZVOK – making it an ideal hub for airlift missions flown out from these locations – Sachse served as one of several key airfields used by American forces during World War II efforts to carpet bomb Nazi Germany from multiple directions at once! The large populations living close to military installations also contributed significantly to Eisenhower’s success at home gaining over 66% approval ratings with Americans polled overall when he proposed plans for postwar reconstruction following Japan’s surrender! In 1948, after more than 50 years of continuous growth due largely to Interstate 15 construction projects – including primary highway arterialization around central downtown areas extending northward into Tarrant County outside much older rural areas now included within Achterhoek Township Limits ( ZIP code 78206) through concurrent federal funding allocation resulting from statehood referendum held that year – Mayor Don McCulloch proclaimed July 4th as “John Sager Day” marking not only our hometown founder’s birthday but also our long history associated with this community striving relentlessly towards progress potential achieved since then!!
