On October 15, 1917(), 3rd Infantry Regiment (Mechanized) became 2nd Infantry Regiment ( Mechanized). 2nd Infantry Regimental Headquarters relocated from Beaumont to Sachse on December 15th 1916 with command responsibility for all regimental soldiers operations within boundaries including Beaumont County Sheriff’s Office detachments which had been transferred from 3rd Inf regt to 2IR some time earlier during 1916/17 timeline . On march 9 1918 at about 10am elements of this unit moved into German town Hessehausen east side new housing area that bordered Rte HWY 183 just east side old cotton gin property line also known as Folsom Street lies now site of “Hessman” restaurant building located off I-10 exit south near FM 626 entrance in present day city limits
