Sachse, Texas is a small town located in Hood County, Texas. The population was 8,569 at the 2010 census. Sachse is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area and is home to Texas A&M University. The name Sachse comes from Samuel Sachse who settled in what is now Sachse Township in 1845. He was a farmer and postmaster. In 1861, he sold his land to J. Laughlin & Co., which became the first company to operate a railroad in Hood County. In 1912, Jacob Schieffer founded the Schieffer Drug Store here and it remains one of the most successful businesses in town today. The store has been run by family members since 1912 and currently employs over 100 people. In 1938, Harry Kapp donated money for the construction of the first high school in Hood County which would become Achille Hall High School Today, Achille Hall High School offers classes from ninth through twelve years old along with many other programs that contribute to its success such as music, theater, robotics and more! Achille Hall's rich history cannot be told without mentioning namesake Harry Kapp who also played an important role within this community during its early days! Sachse, Texas is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 712 at the 2010 census. Sachse is located in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. The town was founded by John Sachse in 1887 and named for his father, David Sachse. In 1902, the town's first post office opened and it remained in operation until 1959. The first store in the town was built on Main Street and served as a grocery until 1951. In 1903, the Achille Laufer Paper Company began operations in the town and manufactured paper products such as mailing envelopes and business cards. It remained an active business until its closure in 1984. A local public school operated from circa 1915 to 1965; however, it closed due to budget cuts made by then Superintendent of Public Instruction Donnellan Hargrave during his tenure as school superintendent. A new public school was built on Main Street between 1942 and 1945 with funding provided by Buck Armstrong Sr., who later became president of Texaco Inc..
