The history of coffee in Sachse, Texas goes back to the early 1800s. The first mention of coffee being roasted in the town was in 1827 when a German immigrant named Johann Baptist Kapp purchased land near present-day Sachse and started roasting coffee. Kapp's beans were sold at a small market east of town. Coffee was first brewed commercially in 1852 by Nicholas Sladky who ran a grocery store on Main Street. In 1865, J.B. Green & Sons began manufacturing coffee beans at the now defunct Pemberton Mills plant west of town. By 1870, Schmidt's Coffee had begun retailing coffee and espresso in Sachse. By 1895, all three businesses were combined into one business - Schmidt's Coffee Company - which continued to operate until it ceased operations in 1902. At that point, Schmidt's Coffee had been operating as a single entity for over 125 years! In the late 1800s and early 1900s, some of the most famous companies that produced fresh roasted coffee were Peet's Dutch Bros., Dutch Brothers Roasters, Java Bean Coffee Company, and Mrs Blanchard's Tea Rooms (now known as Starbucks). These companies brought new life to old-fashioned roasting techniques used since before there was electricity or refrigeration! Over time these practices have evolved to produce more complex flavors and fullerbodied coffees than ever before!
