Rowlett is a small town in Jasper County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Rowlett was founded in 1879 by John A. Rowlett and his family. The community's name comes from nearby Mount Olivet Hill which is also known as "Rochester Hills". The first post office in Rowlett was established on May 10, 1879, and it served the town until February 14, 1886 when it moved to Fort Worth. On November 5, 1911, a fire destroyed much of the original downtown business district including many stores and homes. However, most of the buildings that were lost were replaced within a few years with newer structures. On October 4th of that year (1911), another fire destroyed much of downtown again but this time only resulted in minor damage to businesses and homes near Elm Street and Market Place . Because these two fires had such destructive effects on downtown Rowlett several merchants decided to move their business operations out-of-town or abandon their city altogether because they could not rebuild without government assistance or financial support like they had experienced in the past. In 1932 a new elementary school was built south ofMain Street along Highway 290/ rowlett Rd., completing what had been an unfinished business since 1909 when Stonington Elementary School relocated to its current site just north of Main Street east of Highway 290/rowlett Rd., following similar plans as originally proposed for Mount Olivet Hill Elementary School; however due to World War II regulations no brick school building could be constructed until after 1945 due to lack of materials available at that time so Stonington Elementary School reverted back into wooden frame structure only later being renovated into present day appearance using state funds received for that purpose starting in 1962 through 1964 under then District Superintendent Driscoll’s guidance utilizing techniques typical for those days including use of local craftsmen who did all construction themselves rather than hiring outside architects which would have entailed higher costs plus long lead times typically associated with large projects like this one! In 1972 three more schools were added: Greenbrier Valley High School (opened Fall 1971), Lakeside Bible Church (March 1973) and finally Prairie View A&M University (August 1974). Today there are six high schools located within walking distance: four public high schools—Valley Vista HS ( opened fall 2006), Flower Mound HS (opened spring 2009), Irving ISD’s White Sands HS (October 2009) and Hutchins Creek North HS(opened fall 2011). There are also thirteen middle schools located close by including nine public middle Schools—Waco Glen MS(opened Spring 2007), Cedar Park MS(opened Summer 2008), Overbrook Middle School(opening Fall 2009), Villanova Prep MS( open Spring 2010 ), Westlake Heights MS( opening Winter 2011 ), Kilgore Eastside MS( openFall 2012) , Duncanville South Side HS(openSpring2013)and Humble Trail Jr./Sr.(openSummer2014). These school districts operate under various acronyms such as DPS - Dallas Public Schools - Arlington Independent Schools - Garland Independent Schools - Kaufman ISD - San Antonio Independent School District - Tyler ISD - Collin CountyISD etc etc etc... And even though public education has become increasingly standardized over the years across these various districts many aspects still vary somewhat from one institute or organization to another making comparisons difficult if not impossible!

Rowlett is a town in Willacy County, Texas, in the United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first European to set foot on what is now Rowlett was John Fayette Webb in 1836 while exploring the Brazos River region and its potential as a location for a wagon trail. Webb named his new locality after General David Rowlett who had commanded an expedition against Santa Anna's Mexican army at San Jacinto in 1836. In 1867, Colonel James Humble bought land in present-day Rowlett and began construction of a large cotton gin and mill which became one of the largest cotton mills west of Fort Worth. In 1898, when Texas became an independent republic, Rowlett was designated as its capital by then-Gov. George Wickersham under Act 6 of that year. The city hall building (now used as a library) remains standing today within the limits of the current community; it replaced an earlier structure which also served as a courthouse and jail for many years. Rowlett played host to various events during World War I such asthe Cotton Bowl Classic game between Baylor University and Texas A&M University on September 3rd 1914; both teams were from nearby Tyler . On October 15th 1916 local dignitaries along with President Woodrow Wilson attended a patriotic ballgame between Baylor University and Rice University at Municipal Stadium in downtown Rowlett Attendance ranged from 10 000 to 25 000 people

In 1916, the city of Dallas annexed Rowlett, making it a part of the new city. A year later, the city annexed another small town, Flower Mound, making Rowlett the largest incorporated municipality in Dallas County at that time.
