It became a city in 1907 and eventually merged with Fort Worth in 1910. Rowlett's coffee industry began as early as 1875 when Cattlemen Coffee Company opened a small roastery on the banks of the Trinity River. Coffee production increased following World War II when demand for American wartime goods soared. In 1957, John Rowlett donated land to the City of Rowlett to help preserve and develop its coffee industry. The first commercial roasting operation took place at Hammons & Helms Coffee Cooperative in 1961. In 1978, Rowletts introduced their own roast style - their "Classic" line of coffee beans - which has been popular ever since. Today,Rowlett's coffee industry employs over 100 people engaged in various aspects of its production: from farm to cup.

Rowlett is a town in San Jacinto County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Rowlett was founded in 1881 by families from East Texas andettlement began on the east side of town near its current location. The first store was built in 1887 andRowlettPost Office opened in 1889. In 1901, Rowlett became an independent village with a post office, bank and general store. A school was established in 1902 and it remained open until 1963 when Rowlett Consolidated School District took over operation. In 1916, Rowlett incorporated as a city under the name of "Rochester." Rochester experienced rapid growth due to pro-business sentiment that had developed around construction of the Great Western Railway through central Texas. In 1931, Rochester merged with neighboring towns to form what is now known as "Rowlett–Rochester". The merger generated much development including new housing developments along Interstate 35W and later State Highway 183B which became a major artery for commerce and transportation within the community during its early years. This growth led to increased traffic congestion along I-35W which caused many businesses to leave or close their doors; however, this did not stop Rochester from becoming one of the most prosperous communities in central Texas for many years to come. In 1984, Rowlett annexed portions of Slaughtertown which lie south of FM 19606 on Slaughter Road (later renamed TX 90). This annexation created more traffic congestion on I-35W as well as increased competition among businesses for limited space within rowlet boundaries. Despite these challenges,rowlet continued to grow rapidly during this time period becoming one of the most affluent communities within central Texas In 2006, after years of planning and discussion between local government officials and business leaders alike,the City Council decided thatrowlet needed more economic development specifically Located northward across US 290 from Round Rock/Austin were two large undeveloped areas that could provide significant opportunities for business investment local landowners had beenThe land shape approximately like an elongated Triangle with its apex located at US 290 & Marion Boulevard . After careful scrutiny it was determined that this triangular shaped area would be economically advantageous due to its proximity both geographically & economicallyto downtown Austin On December 3rd 2007 Rowlett Mayor Byron White announced plans for a mixed use project called "The Crossing" which would include 300 residential units(27story tower), 24 hotel rooms (3 floors each), 12 retail stores (4 stories high), 2 restaurants (2 stories high)& an operating theater capable of seating up to 350 people

The couple named their business "Koffehaus Hasenicht" after their home town of Hässelt in Switzerland. Coffee became a popular drink in Europe during this time and was also popular among Americans. Coffee houses were extremely popular with people of all ages and classes because they offered a variety of drinks and snacks. In 1867, Kaffeehaus Freytag opened in Munich, Germany which is considered to be the first modern coffee house. Kaffeefreytag served coffee, pastries such as croissants or buns, milk products, beer and wine. They also supplied reporters and other journalists with news briefs while on assignment. Today's Berlin-based Freytag Kaffeery has continued to serve caffeine pleasures to Europeans since its inception more than 150 years ago!
