The first coffee shop in Round Rock was opened in 1892 by John and Charlotte Browne. The business continued to operate until 1906 when it closed because of the Panic of 1907. In 1915, Otto Schleicher opened a small grocery store on the corner of 22nd Street and Elm Drive. After 12 years, he sold his interest in the store to Harry Jaffe who reopened the store as The Coffee House on December 16, 1949. In 1957, Bobbi Brown opened her first restaurant called Pee Wee's BBQ & Coffee which served coffee from her own roastery located adjacent to her restaurant. In 1978, she founded Bobbi Brown's Baked Goods Store adjacent to her restaurant which became one of Texas' largest retail food stores. In 1990, Round Rock native Donny McLennan began operating Donny's Coffee Shop at 214 W 9th Ave where he continues to serve coffee today with a focus on quality and sustainable practices. Round Rock, Texas is a city in southern Texas on the south bank of the Colorado River. It was founded by colonists from Mexico in 1837, and has since become one of the most important cities in Southern Texas. The population was estimated to be 400,000 as of 2010. Round Rock is located near Austin and San Antonio. The first Gardena Mission settlement was established in what is now Round Rock on October 20, 1836 by Father José Avilés and his seventeen companions under the leadership of Manuel Armijo. The group had traveled from Zacatecas across New Mexico to attack Taxman Ranch on November 25, 1835 after discovering that their original plans for a mission had not been realized due to an error made by Padre José de Jesús Montoya. On May 10, 1837 Colonel James Bowie organized a company of Rangers called Bowie's Battalion which became known as Company F of the First Regiment (Texas) Infantry soon after its formation at Lamar Barracks east of downtown Austin on May 17th. George Armstrong Custer's 5th Cavalry Division fought its way through unfavorable terrain southeast of town on July 4th near what is now Interstate 35 before crossing into Mexican territory over Brownsville Road about 3 km later and finally reaching Round Rock just before dark that night. That event helped give birth to Round Rock as an independent city with its own government within two years following the Mexican-American War ending with Ulysses S. Grant's Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo granting independence to all Hispanic states east of the Rio Grande including Texas including much of today's Mexico City area bounded by I-10 north, US-75 east, Ayala Street south and Reynosa Street west (the boundaries then extended north along Artisan Boulevard). In 1840 John Wesley Smith moved his family from Killeen County, Texas some 12 miles northeast to present day RoundRock where they platted a small town named Highland Park which would become home to more than 1,500 people by 1860 when it merged intoRoundRock proper following an act passed by a commission appointed by Governor Sam Houston seeking facts surrounding that merger including affidavits from residents stating that "No negro lives within our limits." The new city included nearly every slaveholding county in Southwestern TX during those years with most living within 15 miles or so commuting daily for work wherever it could be found; this continued until well into Reconstruction days when African Americans were prohibited from voting and many ended up working off theirleasehold land white farmers had acquired during prohibition era regulated only by open range cattle grazing laws Congress repealed following World War II helping turn round rock into one of America’s most diverse cities both racially and economically despite continuing integration efforts dating back more than fifty years

Round Rock, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Midland County. The population was 149,651 as of 2010,[1] making it the third-largest municipality in Midland County after Midland and Odessa.[2] The city is located on the east bank of the Brazos River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Houston, and has a metropolitan area population size exceeding 2 million people according to2010 estimates. The first permanent settlement in Round Rock was made by Mormon pioneers near what is now downtown on May 21, 1836. In 1839 a group of Texans led by John Wesley Powell crossed into present-day Midland County from Oklahoma Territory and founded the town of La Grange south of Round Rock on the Brazos River. George Waco established another small town nearby at Fort Worth in 1840 before finally settling in Round Rock around 1850. However, due to its remote location and sparse population, Round Rock never became known as an important center for commerce or culture until after annexation by Houston in 1886. In 1907 business interests including those controlled by oilman Humble Oil Company organized a campaign to rename Round Rock "Houston" because they considered it their natural epicenter for oil production potential within HOUSTON COUNTY only! They were successful; local papers throughout the Lone Star State carried stories about how "Houston", with its rich history and cultural attractions had become our "gateway city".[3] However, consolidated municipal government did not take hold until 1912 when voters approved incorporation as a City under one Mayor/Council system with voting rights for all residents regardless of race or sex. At that time there were no schools outside Center City which limited access to black students but opened up opportunities for other minority groups such as Hispanics who could attend integrated schools just beyond Loop 610 & I-10 while also shopping districts like Montrose Shopping Center opened to white shoppers only after segregation laws went into effect statewide following Brown v Boardwalk decision
The town of Round Rock, Texas was founded in 1847 by Anglo-Americans. It became a railroad center and the seat of government for the Republic of Texas. In 1865, Round Rock was annexed by Mexico and its residents were forcibly deported. The town reverted to American control in 1871.
