In 1886, he sold his lumberyard to J H Whitehurst who continued production until 1924 when it closed down due to World War II Allied bombing raids that damaged many businesses in Austin - including the Robertson Store - making RoundRock the first major city hit hard by wartime devastation . Whitehurst's successors re-opened the business shortly afterwards but only lasted eight months before shutting down again due to financial troubles . It wasn't until 1907 that Alexander Denny opened his first restaurant in downtownRoundRockand began serving coffee . Denny was later joined by Harry Seligman (1912 – 2004) who ran The Coffee House from 1935 until 1953 when it merged with Seligmans Coffee & Tea Company . AfterSeligman left The Coffee House went through several changes ownership before finally closing down in 1957 . There has been coffee brewing in Round Rock, Texas since the 1800s. Roasters and cafes have cropped up all over the city, with some dating back to 1876. The first coffee house in Round Rock was The Coffee House on Congress Street. It served coffee and pastries from 1796-1876. In 1903, John Aiken opened The Bean & Tea Shop on Elm Street which became one of the most popular Round Rock roasters for many years. In 1946, Harry Peake founded Starbuck's Coffee on Loop 288 and it continues to serve its iconic cup of java today. In 1964, Dutch Bros Coffee opened up shop at 310 Main Street which is now known as Dutch Bros Cafe & Bakery. The store continued to serve its famous coffee until it closed in 2000. In 1972, Harvey's Coffee opened up shop at 222 W Hickory Avenue which is now known as Harvey's Place Italian Grocery & Diner. Round Rock had its first espresso bar in 1978 when Cavallo's Café introduced espresso shots to the local population with their attempt to become more environmentally friendly than traditional black and white espresso drinks by using recycled cups and beans from nearby grocery stores

The city of Round Rock, Texas was founded in 1836 by the Republic of Texas. The city was named after General James Boggs, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then became a U.S. Senator from Texas. After independence was won in 1846, Round Rock became part of Mexico until it regained its independence in 1848. In 1861, Round Rock joined the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War because most Texans sympathized with their southern friends over the Union side. Round Rock grew rapidly during this time and by 1865 had reached a population of 110,000 people. The war ended with Union victory and Round Rock reverted to Mexico once again. It would stay that way for about 20 years as both countries struggled with Reconstruction (the process which allowed former slaves to own property and vote). In 1912,Roundrock merged with El Paso County to form Greater El Paso County (later State Fair Park) but it would only last for a few years due to strong opposition from local farmers who felt they were being kept out of the county's growth while larger towns got more land than they could use or sell. In 1925, RoundRock petitioned for annexation into El Paso County but this request was denied because there were already too many other cities within the county boundaries (El Paso had 7 municipalities whileRoundRock had just 4). In 1931–1932, round rock hosted an International Exposition called "Exposition World" which drew 200 million visitors from all over the world! Due to its growing popularity and steady expansion throughout much of the next decade, round rock began experiencing rapid gentrification starting in 1978 when developers bought up properties near downtown for high-end housing developments known as The Loop neighborhood (). This development increased traffic on I-10 through town and created an intense mix of cultures which often clashed with residents' traditional values () . In 1847, a group of Texans led by Colonel James F. Polk decided to move the capital of Texas from Austin to Dallas. The reason given for moving the capital was that then-Texas Governor Mirabeau B. Lamar had refused to recognize Mexican independence and proposed instead that the state be divided into two parts: one would become Mexico and the other would become Texas. The citizens of Dallas were not happy with this decision, so they lobbied hard for their own city to be named the capital. In 1851, Dallas finally became the capital when Sam Houston was chosen as its first Mayor.
